Learning AutoScriptTEM and fascinated by having Titan Krios in a Python shell. Deep dark thoughts: SI units are great and intuitive, but what happens when I forget the e-6 for defocus?
new paper: "ATP binding and ATP hydrolysis in full-length MsbA monitored via time-resolved Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy"
doi.org/10.1515/hsz-2023-012…
I now work in CryoEM, but still find the method of time resolved FTIR spectroscopy most elegant. Looking at protein reactions label free, with ms time resolution and sub-angstrom spatial resolution. CryoEM is not quite there (yet) :)
🚨NEWS ALERT🚨I am starting my lab at @fz_juelich to study mitochondrial membrane proteins and I’m recruiting PhD students! Please apply/RT/contact me if you have questions. PhD Position – Cryo-EM of mitochondrial membrane protein complexes fz-juelich.de/en/careers/job…
Our iDPC-STEM manuscript is now published in Nature Methods doi.org/10.1038/s41592-022-0… We used scanning transmission electron microscopy to resolve vitreous cryo samples of TMV and KLH to resolutions of 3.5 and 6.5 Ang. 1/4
New research from our lab! We elucidated how Atg18 oligomers form structural scaffolds for membrane interaction. Lots of #CryoEM structures (Helical assemblies, SPA, subtomo) suggest a conserved interaction motif for Atg18-Atg2
