It's easy to identify problems. A lot harder to foster solutions. So proud of my colleagues @deansforimpact working with #edprep faculty to change the way future Ts are prepared to teach reading
A new report from @NCTQ underscores the need to prepare more teachers to enact evidence-based reading instruction. We agree there's room for growth. And in partnership with #edprep programs, we've been driving a change effort, with significant results: deansforimpact.org/what-we-d…

And “behind every piece of data is someone else’s child” — super important addition from @justincholbrook at @Accelerate_US CoP convening
💡Data can provide a compass for schools to continuously improve — and in order to measure the impact of tutoring on student outcomes, we also have to assess where students are at the beginning. @TNakiaT @BaltCitySchools #Tutoring4All

I'm all about good news in teacher prep (there's a lot that bucks the media narrative) ... but this is misleading. Title II changed the definition of enrolled student in AY18-19... enrollment is FLAT since 2016-17

This was the money quote for me. I would rather have the challenge of wading through the torrent of disagreement about which content than accepting no content at all. I have sailed on the “avoid content” ship and it leads kids nowhere 🌊

I really need folks to understand that the work teachers have done over the past 2 1/2 yrs is nothing short of extraordinary. I've seen teachers whose own lives have been upended by grief, illness, & instability continue to show up for their students in countless, remarkable ways

I’ll say for the millionth time: This is why studying history matters. Our perspectives, our journalism, our understandings of the way we should do our work and the nation we cover, are being shaped by our history whether we know it or not.

Questions of how to prepare novice teachers to address educational inequities have long challenged #edprep programs. Our work with the LbSD Network has focused on helping novice teachers foster equity in everyday instruction. bit.ly/3dxetQV

I think a lot about the role of teacher prep programs and their potential to support effective HQIM implementation. It would be massively helpful to allow teacher candidates to devote time to learning the ins and outs of HQIM (in lieu of generating lesson plans/creating content)
