Two things can both be true: 1) objectively the war is a major USA loss & so the resulting deal will have far less restraint on Iran than 2015 deal 2) this deal is the best of all available alternatives. It's useful to affirm both points since together they reinforce the fact that militarism is futile as well as criminal.
