Managed to get enough battery power in the camera to catch a few shots on the moors above Oxenhope today
Again really enjoyed the Golden Plovers calling
Hoping fix with camera on/off button works
Have brushed with a soft brush, carefully used dental floss to clean around buttons, used WD40 specialist contact cleaner, will leave in a dry room 48 hours, drain capacitor by removing battery/pressing shoot, perform factory reset
Having trouble with my camera: Sony RX10 mk4 won’t switch off
It probably doesn’t owe me anything but I don’t know what I’d replace it with, so hope it recovers
Here’s some pics of Golden Plovers on moors above Oxenhope yesterday before the battery died
Thursley Common today on my way from my monthly check in on aged P in Portsmouth to my daughters in Redhill to do some childcare
Stonechat, Redstart, W Wobbler, Jay
Met some nice people too
One man had seen tree pipits and cuckoo
Another told me about the Storks at Burpham
Long day of travelling yesterday, Yorkshire to Portsmouth
I did not have time for my usual detour to @RSPBotmoor
Stopped for a brief walk along the Thames at Oxford instead
Heron, Egyptian Goose, Cormorant, Common Terns
Teaching this morning, so sneaked in a very quick trip to @RSPBAireValley St Aidan’s this afternoon
Little Owl, Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Cattle Egret
I’m afraid this male Pied Flycatcher at Strid Woods must think me rather dim
He kept changing perches all around me whilst I took photographs until I realised I was too close to his nest box
As soon as I backed off he thanked me for eventually taking the hint and went in
Sorry Mr Pied Flycatcher
I have a theory that they choose nest boxes on the path and at head level because the walkers keep the corvids and other nest raiders away that might be a problem if they nested in a knot hole up in the leaf canopy
