I’m convinced WebXR 🥽 is about to have its breakout moment! Spent the past few weekends hacking on 972 Shot Clock—a mixed reality 🏀 sim for the Meta Quest 3 browser! Here is a short gameplay trailer—lmk what you think!

It's my personal opinion that the current @aclmeeting leadership should resign there is nothing ethical about their new ethics policy. aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.p…

Who in their right mind thinks it's okay to group accounts of personal trauma by members of the @aclmeeting community abandoned by the communities leadership with hate speech, misinformation, depictions of crime and violence.

We're organizing a new workshop on data contamination (CONDA) at ACL2024! CFP below Contamination is when test data was included in training, for any reason. A lot of research is needed to understand when this happens, or prevent it. Consider submitting! x.com/osainz59/status/175191…

📢 Excited to announce that our Workshop on Data Contamination (CONDA) will be co-located with ACL24 in Bangkok, Thailand on Aug. 16. We are looking forward to seeing you there! Check out the CFP and more information here: conda-workshop.github.io/

What a disingenuous response. Keep in mind these were written right after October 7th which fell right before the camera ready deadline. The events directly impacted the authors who were refused recognition by the ACL leadership for their trauma. despite decades of contributions.
Future rebuttals be like: Reviewer 2: "Here is the counter-example to the claimed theorem". Authors: "Reviewer 2 is Hamas and antisemitic". I don't know about others, but we Indians are used to being called out anti-nationalists for every random thing in the past decade.

Given the public statements made by ACL regarding other recent events, the ACL Leadership's silence on October 7th was deafening and tweets like this one underscore why the authors felt a need to provide the context for their submissions.

This is a very cool project
🦖3D printed this model generated by text-to-3D foundation model! Resin printer No other changes than upscaling and adding support (done automatically through an app) Result is pretty good!🤩 Conclusion: models generated by text-to-3D FMs are printable if smooth enough

If this is the way an @aclmeeting member responds to the murder of my family on October 7th by erasing 3,000 years of Jewish history I think this underscores the need for moral clarity and such an ethics statement!
You've been killing people for almost a century deal with it or go back to Poland

Recognizing the murder of my family by Hamas on October 7th is neither of these things. This is shameful rhetoric for a senior “ethics” researcher from @mozilla.

this is neither ethics nor a broader impact statement. it's simply white-supremacism and settler-colonialism

Antisemitism like this should have no place at @mozilla no place at @aclmeeting and no place in the ai ethics community.

Being anti-Zionist is not inherently antisemitic. However, anti-Zionism can frequently devolve into antisemitism by zealous, emotional, ignorant & radical activists. Dialogue/engagement between the pro-Palestine & pro-Israel camps should constructively identify those boundaries.

BREAKING: The “few bad apples” line pushed by the UN has just been obliterated. The Wall Street Journal front page is reporting that an estimated 1,200 Unrwa employees in Gaza are actual “operatives” of Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and about half have close relatives who belong to the Islamist terrorist organizations, according to Israeli intelligence estimates shared with the U.S. government. The report said 23% of Unrwa’s male employees—the agency has a total staff of 12,000 in Gaza—took active part in the Hamas organization’s military or political framework, a higher percentage than the average of 15% for adult males in Gaza. The information in the Israeli intelligence reports is based on sensitive signals intelligence as well as cellphone tracking data, interrogations of captured Hamas gunmen and documents recovered from dead terrorists. Nearly half of all Unrwa employees—an estimated 49%—also had close relatives with official ties to Hamas and other terrorist groups. The Oct. 7 intelligence reports seen by the Wall Street Journal identified an Unrwa Arabic teacher who was also a Hamas terrorist commander and took part in a terrorist attack on Kibbutz Be’eri, where 97 people were murdered, and about 26 people were kidnapped and taken as hostages to Gaza. Another Unrwa employee, described in the dossier as an Unrwa social worker, played a role in absconding with the body of a dead Israeli soldier, which was taken to Gaza, the reports said. He also coordinated trucks and munitions distributions for Hamas before being killed. 📍Full story by @cjkeller8 & @davidluhnow @WSJ: wsj.com/world/middle-east/at…

.@NorwayPalestine You forgot to disclose here that the head of your foreign ministry is Leni Stenseth who just completed her term as UNRWA Deputy Commissioner General, during which she visited Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar in Gaza and “affirmed her solidarity.” x.com/HillelNeuer/status/175…

The situation in Gaza is catastrophic, and @UNRWA is the most important humanitarian organization there. Norway continues our support for the Palestinian people through UNRWA. International support for Palestine is needed now more than ever

Isn’t it interesting that the only two jurists on the ICJ panel who have actually witnessed genocide — Barak during the Holocaust and Sebuntinde in Sudan and Rwanda— voted to dismiss the charges? They’re like … we’ve seen genocide, and this ain’t it.
