Usability should be the first thing on the list when planning for a security feature or product. Poor usability begets poorer security hygiene and shadow IT all of which beget even more user-hostile security processes, “Because the dang users are just not getting it!”
Too much friction for security’s sake hampers adoption and reduces net security benefit. 2FA and strong auth are great, but it’s important to make them *easier* to use than username/password or else they won’t ever become the default.
