Qatar Carbonates & Carbon Storage Research Centre hosted by Imperial College. Paper updates, conferences & general CCS. Managed by Bhavna & @cequestration
Here's the latest paper from the Thermophysics Lab @qccsrc@ImperialChemEng: "Brine chemistry effects in calcite dissolution kinetics at reservoir conditions". Congratulations to Benaiah Anabaraonye for his great experimental work. Free download at authors.elsevier.com/a/1YXRg…
Our new Data Descriptor Paper on time-resolved 3D imaging of drainage and imbibition in carbonate rocks. The publicly accessible data can be used to validate pore-scale models and to investigate displacement and trapping mechanisms.

Our last Clean Fossil Fuel seminar under the kind sponsorship of @QCCSRC and its a cracker! Dr Daniel Eriksen from @Shell talking about how thermodynamics is a hot topic in the O&G industry. He was a PhD student with @qccsrc and Prof George Jackson and Dr Andrew Haslam pictured
John Crawshaw from @qccsrc gave a presentation on observations from carbonate rocks. Predicting reaction rates can be difficult due to rock heterogeneity at a range of scales. Their work experimentally validated simulations using a cylindrical hole drilled in solid calcite.
Come watch Takeshi Kurotori from the @qccsrc Complex Porous Media lab talk about 3D imaging of solute transport in reservoir rocks and show some really cool PET images: Session 2B at 3pm #GHGT14@IEAGHG@ImperialChemEng @rosteadys
An interesting talk in the Clean Fossil Fuels today by our own Dr Ruien Hu on the problems of understanding small particle wettability - an issue largely just avoided and very poorly qualified #poweringCCS#CCSRocks#GreenGB#CCS
What a great #ImperialLates for #GreenGB week, thanks Colin Hale and Vincenzo Cunsolo for #PoweringCCS and helping educate the masses on #CCS with lab tours of CO2 Pilot plant and @qccsrc CO2 storage imaging lab #CCSRocks, time for 🍺 and 🍔!
This was me in 2016 and 2017. I know a stranger's words don't mean much during a time like this (even my best friends' encouragement didn't help me much), but I hope all of you looking for jobs stay strong and keep pushing forward. I BELIEVE IN YOU.
A very interesting topic, shame it wasn’t published later in the month, 🎃 👻 🧙♀️ 🧙♂️ but great work between our people in @ImperialRSM & @ImperialChemEng
"We at #QatarShell aim to support Qatar National Vision 2030 in the long-term. Our primary goal is to drive real, measurable, mutual benefit through our Social Investment initiatives, such as #TAFAWOQ, and partnerships with organizations like QP" - Andrew Faulkner
We’re at the @InterPoreTweets UK conference in Aberdeen today! First up is Dr Emily Chapman talking about solute transport in rocks to help upscaling for carbon storage #CCSrocks @rosteadys @ImperialChemEng@qccsrc
