He puts eternity into the smallest things, hides the whole tree inside something you could swallow by accident, and when you plant it you're not creating anything, you're just letting what was always there unfold, because the flower was never not-there, it was just invisible, waiting, patient as death, and your children are like this too, they came to you already containing everything they will become, the man is in the boy, the woman is in the girl, you're not building them from scratch, you're just watering what's already written in their core, and the tragedy is most parents try to plant a different seed than the one they were given, try to make the rose be a oak, try to make the oak be a rose, and wonder why nothing grows right, why everything comes out twisted, when really they just refused to see what was already there, what God already decided before the first cell divided. the harmony you're looking for, the peace you keep chasing - it's not something you achieve, it's something you reveal, it was always in the seed, you just had to stop forcing it to be something else
