FIFTY-THREE YEARS. And finally, the NBA title is back at the Mecca! What a team. What a playoff run. Absolutely incredible. I'm in disbelief, in the best possible way. Let's go Knicks!!!

Oh, the rest of the world has a feeling that America is inhospitable & bad? Wherever did they get that notion from?
CNN did a segment on Freddy, the German soccer tourist, and sports analyst Christine Brennan claimed "I saw some conversation, Wolf and Pamela, about how the rest of the world is looking at the United States and feeling that we are—it's a foreboding image and that we are inhospitable...But how wonderful again, that sports can bring people here and show people that the United States and you know, the South is welcoming a German tourist in a way we would never have anticipated" Who is "we"?

Apparently, mainstream liberals think that all wealth is made up of tangible gold coins that rich dudes regularly dive into, a la Scrooge McDuck. No wonder their economic policy is so utterly braindead.
There is no way a single person can spend a billion dollars, let alone a trillion.

This is spectacularly dumb. It's almost impressive to misunderstand economic theory this badly. I remember when this absolute fucking idiot was getting Strange New Respect on the right, at least until people were reminded of how much he hated Jews. And boy, does he hate Jews!

And the Obama administration, along with its handpicked media echo chamber, actually believed this blatant horseshit. Thanks for reminding everyone of how utterly fucking moronic those people were - and still are.

And yes, if we get a similar paper commitment from Iran this time around, with no real verification regime & an early ending of US sanctions, the deal will be a similar failure. But it will have come after we've won serious military victories against the Islamic Republic.

Will it be as bad as the JCPOA in the long run if that happens? Yup. And I'll be firmly against it, as I was against the JCPOA. At the same time, Iran is far worse off today than it was in December 2025, much less 2015. That's a good start. But we must finish the job.

I find it risible that the American press is denigrating our country on the eve of our 250th birthday, simply out of partisan rancor. I guess it could be worse: if a Democrat were in the White House, Axios would be writing about how America never had any good days in 250 years.

One thing about this whole SpaceX valuation brouhaha is especially interesting to me: if so many people think that this stock is massively overvalued, why don't they do something about it? That's the great thing about free market capitalism, you can buy put options or short a stock. Put your money where your mouth is; you can earn a ton!

This is a great piece (unsurprising coming from Ben). And it shows that naked partisan politicization infects liberal judges in both America & Canada.
Richard Wagner has spent his time as Chief Justice turning himself into the self-appointed guardian of Canadian democracy: annual press conferences, speeches about the rule of law, warnings about democratic backsliding. The old convention was that judges speak through their rulings and otherwise keep quiet. Wagner seems to find that beneath him. He wants to be a public figure, not just a judge. The irony is that every time he steps up to the microphone to defend the court’s legitimacy, he’s the one politicizing it. A judiciary that lets its work speak for itself doesn’t need a spokesman. Wagner has made himself one anyway, and the institution is worse off for it.

Our politics should be about incentivizing the innovation that will create the next 1000 trillionaires, not using the power of government to destroy the potential to generate the wealth that innovation creates. This is why progressivism is a long-term dead-end for humanity.
Elon Musk just became the world’s first trillionaire. Let’s make sure he’s also the last.

Reverse the roles & John Harwood would be lecturing us all about how the New York City elite just knows better than the Oklahoma plumber.
New Yorkers definitely want a plumber from Oklahoma telling them what to do

"tHeY jUSt LaUnCh sAtElLiTeS" I honestly couldn't care less if they go to the Moon or Mars. Launching a shitload of satellites for very cheap using extremely advanced & innovative reusable rocket technology is worth it. As I said, it revolutionizes our relationship to space.
Replying to @ratlpolicy
SpaceX is all hype - they launch satellites primarily. They’re never going to Mars or even the Moon. That’s marketing to fool the chuds like you.

The idea that extraterrestrial deliveries are now so commonplace as to be considered meaningless by "chuds" like this moron is itself proof of the revolutionary nature of what SpaceX is doing! Without this sort of technology, mass human development in space would be impossible.

I get that people don't like Elon Musk. I don't like Elon Musk! I think Teslas (electric cars generally) suck. I know that these technologies didn't spring fully-formed from his head like Athena from Zeus. But innovation requires vision & funding. Musk has both, to his credit.

I would almost understand if these people were mad that the world's first trillionaire was a nepo-baby investor, a financier, or an oilman. But he's a guy who popularized electric cars & completely revolutionized humanity's relationship with the cosmos. Kinda worth the trillion!
Elon Musk just became the world's first trillionaire. The typical American household would have to work more than 11 MILLION years to make Elon Musk's level of wealth. We need a wealth tax.

And, to be perfectly clear, I still wouldn't have a problem if the world's first trillionaire was any of those other things I mentioned. Perhaps if progressives hadn't inflated the currency so much, he'd still be a mere centi-billionaire.

There's a lot of criticism to be made regarding this memorial. But the most salient isn't design, location, or symbolism. It's that we're still in the middle of the damn war!
An early look at the @GWOTMF memorial planned for Washington, D.C, released today. It's planned on what are now athletic fields at the corner of Henry Bacon Drive and Constitution Avenue, near the Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
