The legal team representing the the Gov’t of Canada in the Sakamoto case were up today and will wrap up tomorrow. Going through my notes to summarize but their arguments that Sakamoto’s case does not meet the tests for certification were not compelling. It was a good day for Sakamoto. More to come.
On a personal note, and I admit I’m biased, it’s difficult to listen to federal government attempt to deny their actions, absolve themselves of blame, and point fingers at the victims. I realize it’s their job but it feels so vile. It’s difficult not to feel angry and betrayed, and lied to.
