Ben Shapiro: "This MOU appears to be a disaster that does not achieve any of the signal goals that were set by the administration at the beginning ... in my opinion the vice president, the chief negotiator, has not well served the president"

Outa-state whiners: we had to wait a whole week. In-state winners: “Primary election voter turnout would be 41%. That would mean the highest voter turnout so far in the US among the 26 states that have held primary elections…, and a rate nearly 2X that of most other states.”
This is correct. It didn't change anyone's life to wait a week for CA primary results, and while speeding that up a bit is fixable, what's overlooked is turnout for the primary, in an all-mail system, is the best in the nation so far. washingtonmonthly.com/2026/0…

Reagan is rolling over in his grave. Iran’s nuclear ambitions were not curbed, and they have learned that threatening the Strait of Hormuz works and will undoubtedly leverage it in the future. Now, Iran gets to build brand-new infrastructure under this deal. Before the war, the strait was open, Iran was being crushed by sanctions, and 13 service members were still alive. Now, 13 Americans are dead, families have paid billions at the pump, sanctions will be lifted, and the bombing has stopped. This is the worst foreign policy blunder in decades.

Can I feel icky about zoos in general but also be sad that LA zoo is in crisis?
In bad municipal news... the Los Angeles Zoo lost 23% of its membership in a single year. Zoo membership dropped from 36,914 in April 2025 to 28,440 in February 2026. Now, a civil grand jury is calling for the zoo to be run privately. via @LATvives latimes.com/california/story…

“has been noticed by Reddit moderators and Wikipedia editors, namely that their websites are getting flooded with promotional content from brands trying to do AEO, or AI-engine optimization”
New: Researchers quantify how easy AI search is to manipulate. 13 words buried in a random Reddit comment can poison AI search results. They suggest this is not easy to stop: "The way you can attack these systems is so much dumber than you think it is" 404media.co/it-is-trivially-…

🚁 Why do we use helicopters on Election Night? For many decades, we have partnered with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department to fly ballots in on Election Night. Helicopters help deliver ballots from faraway Vote Centers to the Ballot Processing Center faster. @LASDHQ

As far as I can tell, Tulsi’s big “secret biolab” bombshell is recycled Kremlin propaganda. These labs were never secret. The U.S. spent decades funding biosafety and disease-surveillance work abroad under Nunn-Lugar, with the facility lists posted publicly by the State Department and our own embassy in Kyiv. Russia invented the “secret bioweapons” spin in 2022 to help justify invading Ukraine. Our own intelligence flagged it as disinformation. Now Tulsi is laundering that exact line, while conveniently forgetting the first Trump administration funded this same research. Nothing was hidden and the only thing being manufactured here is the coverup. Tulsi, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
Today, I’m releasing never before seen intelligence revealing new evidence of past US government funding for more than 120 biolabs in over 30 countries, including Ukraine. In support of President Trump‘s Executive Order to end federal funding of dangerous gain of function research around the world, and increase transparency and accountability, ODNI will continue working with partners across the Administration to identify where these labs are, what pathogens they contain, and what “research” is being conducted. odni.gov/index.php/newsroom/…

Elon Musk held up a chainsaw, fed USAID into the wood chipper, and at least 600,00 people have already died as a result - two-thirds of them children. History's first trillionaire.

About 2,000 LA SoFi Stadium food & beverage workers reach a tentative deal with Legends Hospitality days before the start of the FIFA World Cup. Under the new contract, workers receive: - Major pay increases, with most workers clocking $40/hr or more - Job protections against AI automations, including kiosks and cashier-less technology - Strengthened privacy measures that prohibit workers from forcefully giving away their SSN or immigration status It also includes a right-to-strike clause if ICE or Border Patrol threaten employee safety in the workplace.

Fútbol is life. 🇿🇦 🇲🇽 Mexico gave the world the Treaty of Tlatelolco, the first agreement to ban nuclear weapons from an entire region. South Africa gave the world something even rarer: it built the bomb, then chose to get rid of it. Both countries provide a shared reminder that the greatest victories happen off the field too. #FutbolisLife

Worth the read. Thoughtful outline on the problems, solutions. Most worrisome is how human labor will become irrelevant to companies & capital, and how impossible it is to imagine our gov't, run by those w/ $ handing out pink slips, would ever rewrite the social contract.
Today I'm publishing a new essay, Policy on the AI Exponential. AI is progressing extremely fast—much faster than the policy process was built to handle. The essay lays out where I think the technology is now, and the action needed to close the gap: darioamodei.com/post/policy-…
