Football really has gone mad
🚨 Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a €70M bid for Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo and currently lead the race for his signature. Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the Netherlands international, although no formal offer has been submitted yet. Liverpool are open to assessing the situation this summer, with discussions over Gakpo's future expected after his World Cup campaign. (Source: @caughtoffside)

6 clubs tried to end English football as we know it and were fined £22m BETWEEN them. Everton have now essentially been fined £52m plus a no doubt hideous figure on legal fees for simply trying to compete with those big boys (sadly failing) and building a stadium. It’s appalling

Just don’t get the hype. £120m is wild. Forest made a Euro semi but finished 16th in league.

In other news @hughlaurie for new Dr Who all day long. Even better if he’s modelled on House!

Man City have spent close to 500 million on players in just the last 18 months and are now banging in 120 million bids on Premier League midfielders. They are really taking the absolute piss out of the Premier League and these #115 charges. On the same day Everton are punished again for financial breaches of rules in 2021. You actually couldn't make it up🫢 Where is the ruling on City????

City bidding £120mil for a player Newcastle had to sell to comply with FFP while still having not had a single punishment for 115 charges. On the day Everton are punished yet again for one overpayment that only occurred because of the War in Ukraine. Football has become a farce

Everton 2021/22 - The year that set the club back a decade May - Ancelotti leaves for Madrid June - Rafa Benitez joins Benitez throws out Digne & Rodríguez and replaces them with Mykolenko and Andros Townsend Salomón Rondón is the “big striker signing” Benitez says no to Denzel Dumfries and Tino Livramento because he wants more “experience” settles with Jonjoe Kenny for 6 months then signs Nathan Patterson who had less experience than both of them 16th Jan - Benitez gets sacked after 200 days, 19 points in the 19 games 31 Jan - Lampard is appointed 2 March - main investor Alisher Usmanov is forced out of the club due to ties with Russia and the war November 2023 - Deducted 10 points reduced to 6 for PSR breaches in 21/22 June 2026 - sued for 40 million by Burnley over the same PSR breach Arguably the worst year of the clubs history #EFC

Everton at this point, are PSR guinea pigs. Test the water, see the response, pivot. If Everton had any bollocks they'd take the PL to court over damages themselves.

The @premierleague’s continued hammering of EFC for PSR breaches already declared to have yielded no sporting advantage is so wildly out of kilter with its gentle slap on the wrist for Chelsea (and as yet nothing at all for City) as to be laughable. Corruption in plain sight.

If the Burnley compensation case is upheld I’d like to see every club who - missed out on a trophy, - missed out on a European finish - or suffered relegation all start legal proceedings against City, and Chelsea for all their sustained and dubious practices.

City throwing 100m pound bids in for players while under investigation for multiple breaches of rules. Everton can’t even stump up 20m and have to be careful yet have been punished 3 times for small rule breaches. Fair though 👏🏻

How to fix Doctor Who. Wipe out everything post Peter Capaldi. Most importantly the horrific Timeless Children. The Dream Lord and The Valeyard are behind the non-events of the 13th, 14th, 15th, and stupid Fugitive Doctor. Better yet, just never mention them. Cast Hugh Laurie as the Doctor with a smoking hot actual female companion. You're welcome.
