Today, my agricultural staffer, Heath, had a great opportunity to meet with students from the National FFA Organization, from chapters across the state of Iowa. They had a productive discussion about my work on the Agriculture Committee and the importance of youth engagement in shaping agricultural policy at the federal level. I was proud to help lead the resolution reauthorizing National FFA Week and to recognize the vital role the next generation of farmers will play in feeding, fueling, and strengthening our nation.

I am devastated to hear about the eight lives lost in the tragic B-52 crash at Edwards Air Force Base, including Iowa native Maj. Brad Hovey, a pilot and proud graduate of Iowa State University. Lynette and I are praying for the families, loved ones, and friends of those lost during this incredibly difficult time. This terrible accident will be investigated. I am eternally grateful for those who volunteer to serve and defend our freedoms.

I am excited to announce that Northwest Iowa has received over $15.2 million in FEMA Disaster Relief funds. To date, I have worked with FEMA to deliver over $70 million in disaster recovery funds, and I remain committed to securing every federal dollar necessary to strengthen our communities and protect public safety.

The death tax is an unfair pilfer tax that forces farmers and working families to worry about losing their livelihoods during a time of grief. That’s why the Working Families Tax Cuts increased the death tax exemption to $15 million. I have also introduced the Death Tax Repeal Act to permanently eliminate the death tax and help ensure family farms and businesses can be passed on to the next generation. As Secretary Bessent emphasized, many countries have already adopted similar policies. It’s time to put the next generation of American farmers first and protect the future of family-owned farms.

Secretary Rollins and President Trump continue to exceed expectations. From opening new markets through new trade deals, to supporting year-round E15, this administration has made one thing clear: We are putting the American farmer first. It’s common sense that taxpayer dollars should be used to support those who need assistance—not sent overseas. That’s why I introduced the No American Benefits Abroad Act, which would prohibit welfare recipients from transferring taxpayer-funded benefits abroad. Americans expect welfare programs to serve their intended purpose: helping those in need here at home, not funding transfers overseas.

For too long, foreign entities have acquired farmland with little oversight or accountability. That’s why I was pleased to see my FARMLAND Act included in the Farm Bill to strengthen oversight, close security gaps, and ensure America’s farmland remains in the hands of future generations of Americans.

Great news for our manufacturers! For the fifth month straight, America’s manufacturing sector has exceeded May expectations. I remain committed to working with President Trump to ensure we continue to expand markets.

This month is National Dairy Month! Representing one of the largest dairy and cattle-producing districts in the nation, I’m proud to support policies like the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act that strengthen opportunities for Iowa farmers while ensuring the next generation has access to nutritious dairy products.

Over the weekend, my District Director, Abby, had the honor of attending the welcome home ceremony for men and women assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division. It is always a privilege to honor brave Iowans as they reunite with their families after months of service overseas. We are grateful for their sacrifice and dedication to our nation. Please join me in welcoming them home and thanking them for their service.
