Inference costs will continue going down until anyone can access skill, not just the wealthy
You can then use that skill to create wealth by selling products / services to the wealthy
Thereâs definitely a strong argument that those with more resources to spend on compute get access to the best models / data / workflows / digital âskillsâ. Entrenched power etc
But it also levels the playing field in a lot (not all) areas. Good for entrepreneurial types, bad for people who donât want to play that game
Also there are definitely huge ethical issues with LLMs absorbing knowledge work of experts in their domain without any proper compensation. That ship seems to have sailed already, cat is out of the bag
The (huge) silver lining is that anyone anywhere can basically have all the knowledge / skill to amplify their craft with the collective brains of everyone who has ever lived. The reframe of using AI as an elite learning resource / team of knowledge assistants in complimentary areas to your own domain is longterm super optimistic imo
