Loved Martin Lloyd-Evans’s production of relative Puccini rarity La Fanciulla del West at @operahollandpk tonight: Amanda Echalaz is a lovely Minnie, but Jose de Eça’s tenor rules the roost as Dick Johnson! Another terrific night at Opera Holland Park

Whenever I go to Opera Holland Park I leave some flowers for Debbie Lamprell who worked here and who sadly died in the Grenfell Tower fire. I didn’t know her, but the love for her is always so strong here. 💚 @operahollandpk @JamesOHP

RIP David Hockney. There are infinite images I could post. Across medium, technology & time, relentless in returning the gaze to see better; colour, value, detail, mystery, wonder, joy in the world, inviting us to do so too. His life is a manifesto of what art can be. My hero

96 previous offences…. and these thugs are called “protesters”… they are clearly just abusers and thieves who want an excuse to smash shit up
36-year-old Darren Medhurst, who was filmed by Young Bob setting a bin on fire and rolling it towards police officers, has been jailed for three years and three months. Darren has 51 previous convictions for 96 offences, including burglary and shoplifting.

These aren't protests. They're racist riots. And it's time for the government to take them seriously. The PM should be convening COBRA and setting out a real plan to end this horrific violence and bring communities together. Now is a time for real leadership.

Politicians who fanned these flames should hang their heads in shame. Time and again we've seen this story play out. Single incidents used to fuel a far right narrative - and communities across the nation paying the price.
The rioters have set a house on fire in Belfast.

The funniest response to this has been seeing people saying that ‘the markets’ are a ‘joyous…phenomenon created by a divine being’ (!) and that he should accept that this is one of the ‘greatest…achievement[s] in human history’. Right-wing zealots are quite mad
this is literally what the No Farmers No Food people campaign on but because polanski said it all the clarksons farmers are in the replies whining about communism. this country needs sinking in the atlantic
