The proposed 39 redundancies will devastate the Faculty of Education & Social Sciences who I have worked closely with over the years on a #RightToFood
I urge the management of @LiverpoolHopeUK can reconsider these damaging cuts.

Disability Studies is more important now than ever.
As an alumni of the MA Disability Studies course who benefited significantly from studying on it, I assure you that it is a course worth keeping - not least because of its impact within the wider disabled academic community.
Thank you to all the lovely colleagues signing this open letter challenging 39 proposed redundancies at Liverpool Hope. These redundancies disproportionately target those of us in Social Sciences and Disability Studies docs.google.com/document/d/1…
The automatic door at the Liverpool Allerton Road Halifax branch has been broken for ages, creating a barrier for disabled customers. Can you let me know when this will be fixed @HalifaxBank ?

1/ As there's been some chatter about disability, work & Marx on here lately & the theme of this year's #UKDHM (which starts tomorrow!) is 'Disability,Livelihood & Employment', reckon now might be a good time to re-read this interesting article @SJDResearch.
ALT Screenshot of an abstract for the article "Out of the frame: disability & the body in the writings of Karl Marx". Text of abstract reads: "How disability as a phenomenon is to be understood has been widely discussed within the field of disability research. Influenced by a Marxist perspective, the social model has reinforced the view that disability results from the organization of society rather than from individual premises. This article elaborates on these issues by exploring the writings of Karl Marx and his views concerning disability. The analysis pinpoints bodily normality in Marx’s reasoning and how the economic system shapes the premises for participation and roles, but also how people with disabilities were left out of the progressive call for social change."

For anyone who was hesitant about the cerulean Twitter alternative because figuring out how to use a new platform felt overwhelming: good news! I have done so and using it is EXACTLY the same as using Twitter.
I'm there at bsky.app/profile/riacheyne.b…
The Education (Scotland) bill currently recognises Gaelic but not #BSL.
We’re working with @DeafAction, @RNID, @dbscotland, @ALLIANCEScot to make sure BSL and #deaf children’s needs are recognised too.
@Ross_Greer MSP let us know about the impact of the campaign so far.
