It's been great learning about the incredible global impact of the Award. One million young people take part each year across 120 countries. It's such a powerful tool to strengthen skills and broaden horizons. My role is focused on global advocacy to leverage high-level support.

While I understand the Speaker created controversy over precedent, he has discretion to call MPs, and the post hoc explanation may now convey an institutional unwillingness to reflect on a significant act of thoughtlessness towards the recipient of the racist abuse being debated

I think he should have made an exception. But the last time he bent the rules, the sky fell in.
We need a major rethink of Commons procedure, with more time for backbenchers & less 2-party control

It is also clear how some are using a mix of anti-LGBTQ , anti-"woke", anti-migrant, anti-vax, and climate change conspiracy theories, to promulgate suspicion in democracy and institutions.
This is not unique to the UK, but our political leaders need to take it seriously.

As we look at the strange alliances that are seeking to roll back LGBTQ rights in the UK, we need to look at how some of the same influences are working in African states to toughen legislation against LGBTQ people and holding back progress against HIV.
