I sincerely hope that mine is just one of many portraits of Prime Ministers from both parties that will continue to be hung in the Parliament of Canada for decades and centuries to come […] but that will require that in these perilous times both parties whatever their differences, come together to preserve the independence and unity of this blessed land.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

Trump made conservatives turn on free trade, on deficits, on free speech, on trust in institutions like the FBI, so yeah, of course they’ll turn on the second amendment too
Kash Patel: "You cannot bring a firearm, loaded, with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It's that simple. You don't have a right to break the law." (Pretti was carrying a gun legally.)
Community note
Under the Second Amendment and MN Stat. 624.714, permit holders may legally carry firearms in public, including during protests. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that public carry is a constitutional right. Carrying a firearm does not legally constitute "inciting violence." revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/… supremecourt.gov/opinions/21pdf…

The Holy See is willing to help enemies meet, so they may look each other in the eye and so people may be given back the dignity they deserve: the dignity of peace. With heart in hand, I say to the leaders of nations: let us meet; let us dialogue; let us negotiate!

Melanie Joly, who you label DEI has a law degree from the University of Montreal and a Master of Law degree from Oxford University. Since you seem to think this is inadequate please share your educational background.
Why was this DEI lightweight brought to this important meeting ! Is this the best of the Carney team that looks exactly like the incompetent Trudeau team ! She along with Leblanc added no value and collectively failed Canada !

Sad that a judiciously executed recount - which in fact verifies the importance of every vote - is used to throw shade on the democratic system just because the outcome is not to one’s partisan tastes.
And you wonder why more people are losing trust in our electoral system.

Stephen Miller said administration is “actively looking at” suspending the writ of habeas corpus. That’s one of the cornerstones of western civilization and the US constitution. If you think people voted to slash the constitution, you’re totally wrong. This is what extremists do.

It’s going to be very important as recounts change the seat count that every responsible Canadian politics commentator comes out to remind people that our elections are free, fair, and carefully managed. The recounts are, in fact, proof of that.

Pope Leo XIV explains his choice of name: "... I chose to take the name Leo XIV. There are different reasons for this, but mainly because Pope Leo XIII in his historic Encyclical Rerum Novarum addressed the social question in the context of the first great industrial revolution. In our own day, the Church offers to everyone the treasury of her social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and to developments in the field of artificial intelligence that pose new challenges for the defence of human dignity, justice and labour."

Looking forward to hosting PM @MarkJCarney and Canada’s Premiers in Saskatoon in early June as we work together to build a stronger Canadian economy. It will be the first meeting of the PM and Premiers in Saskatchewan in 40 years. Great choice by the PM to hold his first in-person meeting with Premiers since the election in Saskatchewan!
The premiers and I spoke today. In the face of our immediate trade pressures, we’re focused on building strength at home. That means launching big nation-building projects, removing internal trade barriers, and building one Canadian economy. We agreed to meet in Saskatoon on June 2 to keep that work going — and keep building Canada strong.

Neither Carney nor Canada would have benefited from the prime minister sitting in the White House and trying to antagonize Trump. This isn't a movie or an episode of the West Wing.

Following the Constitution is not a suggestion. It is a guiding force for all of us who work on behalf of the American people. Do you agree?
