A high of “only” 96F expected today in Phoenix, first time in 3 weeks they will not hit a daily record high. This 21 day streak of consecutive record highs is the longest such streak in US climate history, surpassing the previous streak of 14 days at Burlington IA in July 1936

This is kind of hard to wrap my head around. Today was the 18th day in a row Phoenix has set a record high. 18 days straight! It's the longest stretch of record highs for any station in the U.S. Will be close for 3 more days before coming to an end

Another record high temperature for PHX? Yes. Today's high has been 104 degrees. The previous record was 102 set in 1991. Normal/average for the date is 91 degrees. #azwx

For those of you who hated last year’s non winter.. a bit of “good news”?
11 Oct 2024
Maybe some good news for #winter weather enthusiasts. Ural blocking doing its magic & Siberian #snow cover has had a burst the past several days, putting some nice distance from last year's anemic pace. My research shows more fall snow in Siberia more winter cold & snow elsewhere

Northern lights reported in many countries in Europe. As long as geomagnetic storm keeps going, still have decent shot in US, esp East Coast after dark. Best viewing in northern states, but may be able to see away from city lights in DC area, esp toward mountains - and w/ camera.

Tampa Bay will get spared the worst of the storm surge… but make no mistake… the WORST of the winds that #Milton has to offer are headed right for St. Pete and #Tampa as the northern eyewall moves onshore Extensive wind damage through the bay is looking likely

As expected, wind field expanding with Milton as it approaches Florida west coast. Not as tight a storm as it was at its peak, but now a much broader area to be impacted with high winds and storm surge at landfall
