#OnThisDay May 4 1925: @Ford Motor Company's Twin Cities Plant in St Paul assembles its first car, which the mayors of St Paul and Minneapolis then ride in a ceremony. Designed by architect Albert Kahn, it was known as "the most beautiful industrial plant in the world." The plant was famous for sustainable reliance on hydroelectric power and on-site silica sand mines underneath, used to produce automotive glass in a specialized integrated glass factory. Tracks of the Milwaukee Road led right into the back of the plant, efficiently shipping materials in and cars out.
