Generative AI is collapsing the gap between product management, design, and engineering. Everyone is becoming a builder. In startups — and soon large companies — there are really only two jobs: build or sell.
What you don't hear in all the #AI buzz: Though non-tech folks love vibe coding tools, a high % of non-junior software developers don't like using code generation tools (why? having to fix code after, code being lest artful, etc). No rigorous data, just based on empirical convos.
Been thinking about #journalism and #news#media a lot this week. AI boom may prompt orgs to "cover" less and "uncover" more, i.e. unearthing things we wouldn't have heard of otherwise.
« Disruption » has been the mantra hammered onto startup founders for the last 15 years. It loses its meaning in an era where disruption abounds around us all, every quarter, every month, every week.
Hey @MarkJCarney: The elbows-up move for #Canada now is not retaliatory tariffs but suspending recognition of US patents blocking strategic industries; it’s built into trade law for emergencies. Win-win for 🇨🇦 business AND consumers, max pain for US businesses, e.g. Big Pharma.
Startups building AI to simply evaluate employee productivity (“bossware”) are missing the point. AI potential for business is in working WITH the teams; solving bottlenecks, enhancing training and onboarding, optimizing layouts, filling gaps, etc., thus boosting efficiency.
Curious engineers can make great product managers: Engineers tend to be very creative and probing in their thinking processes, which is very important in most product management roles. #product#engineering
Given the strong sentiments I hear expressed in Canada these days, I think it may be time to revive this old poster from over a century ago showing Uncle Sam kicked out of Canada: "An empty house is better than such a tenant as that."
Keep an eye on this burgeoning ecosystem: Quite interesting not only for the decentralization aspect, but in the context of the worldwide shortage of GPUs (being massively hoarded by the big guys). @aleph_im could empower startups to train their own “large” AI models.
Tired of business/startup books. One reason: An over-focus on finding and tracking some KPI, ignoring the fact creating a culture of continuous improvement and learning can have even more impact.
