Excited to share that I’ve joined OpenAI to help build the future of financial intelligence. My focus is connecting models directly to the data sources, tools, and workflows analysts use every day. My team’s first product is the Excel plugin. After software engineering, finance will see the benefits of model improvements more acutely than almost any other field. This is just the start for us! More to come soon!

GPT-5.4 Thinking and GPT-5.4 Pro are rolling out now in ChatGPT. GPT-5.4 is also now available in the API and Codex. GPT-5.4 brings our advances in reasoning, coding, and agentic workflows into one frontier model.

Eventually you will only be able to access frontier intelligence in a small set of buildings in the Bay Area if the US govt continues in this direction. Shame
As a result of a US government directive, we are suspending access to Claude Fable 5 for all users. You can continue to use all other Claude models. Here’s what this means for you: Across Claude products, new sessions will run on your selected default model or Opus 4.8, and existing Fable 5 sessions will end with an error. On the Claude Platform, requests to Fable 5 will also return an error. Please update your integrations to other Claude models. We know this is a disruption to your workflows; we appreciate your patience and support.

A truly inspiring plan and vision from OpenAI! My favorite current goal - a personal AGI for everyone. “Above all, we believe a broad distribution of power will help lead to a better future.”

saddened that I had a draft blog post locked and loaded with the bold prediction that a leading AI company would block requests for LLM training code by 2040, in order to slow proliferation. prediction was good, timeline maybe not so much :)

Mythos/Fable not allowing AI Research queries is probably the first step of closing down / preparing their moat for what they believe is RSI. I’d imagine if they’re willing to do this, the “chat” part will come next, and then once true AGI arrives, API access will be shut down and only provisioned to companies that align with them / aren’t competitive in any way

Imagine the alternate reality where we named GPT-5.4-Pro something like Fable.

Insane that this is the main image Apple is using to show off the new AI Siri

We recently submitted a confidential S-1. We expect it to leak so we’re just announcing it. We have not decided on timing yet; it may be a while because there are things we want to do that are likely easier as a private company. But it’s a complicated set of tradeoffs and this gives us the option to go public sooner if that ends up being best. This announcement is being made pursuant to Rule 135 under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and does not constitute an offer to sell or the solicitation of an offer to buy any securities. Any offers, solicitations of offers to buy, or any sales of securities will be made in accordance with the registration requirements of the Securities Act.

It’s quite poetic that the people who created AI will be the first to be fully replaced by it
if your bread-and-butter consists solely of: - tuning hyperparams/config files - fitting points on a log-log plot - tweaking a few lines in model.py, transformer.py, optimizer.py, train.py - waiting a week for <= 512 chips to free up and then another week for loss curves to converge it is completely understandable to be stressed about becoming automated into irrelevance within the next year or so. question is, do you wait for that to happen, or do you start doing something differently now?

This is an intentional decision in our products. Same thing goes for ChatGPT for Excel, Sheets and Powerpoint. If you run out of limits in the middle of a task, why would we want you to have a half built spreadsheet or deck?
is it just me, or is Codex not stopping your actual task even though you're out of limits? i've been on 0% for the past 5-10 minutes, and Codex continues to go work surely this is a bug?

What will all the prospective SWEs / CS majors rotate into? Where does that type of thinking go now? I have no idea what I would be doing if I was 18 right now. Prompt factory is open though I guess
