UFC Freedom 250 is facing a chaotic weather setup on the White House South Lawn, with a 60% chance of thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and wind gusts up to 34 mph threatening to delay the outdoor fights. On top of the storm risk, brutal D.C. humidity is driving a triple-digit heat index alongside massive swarms of mosquitos and gnats that fighters will have to battle inside the cage. While the venue’s massive 92-foot overhang will keep the octagon dry, a single lightning strike within eight miles will trigger an automatic 30-minute freeze on the entire event.

The UFC has spent the last two decades on cable, which, even with the decline in homes with cable, it’s still in 68 million homes. So, yes, going from 68 million homes being able to watch to 36 million homes being able to is a significant thing. So “barely 40 million” is a big deal.

They didn’t promote it as being on CBS during Saturday’s show when they have the other times it’s been on CBS. Not one single guide shows it as airing on CBS. There’s no mention of it airing on CBS on the UFC’s website or social media. One of the biggest sports business reporters who extensively covers the UFC wrote that it wasn’t airing on CBS.
But you want to call me and MMA media in general stupid and say “we shall see on Sunday” instead of looking at the actual facts.

The Super Bowl has been on network TV for decades. Most people take the next day off of work. It’s the most popular single day in the world.
Imagine comparing it to a UFC card that doesn’t start until almost two hours later, regardless of the show being at the White House or not. That’s suddenly not going to magically add 120 million viewers.
Super Bowls are played on Sunday nights dummy. Tell us you have never been invited to a Super Bowl party without telling us you have never been invited to a Super Bowl party.
