I wasn’t seeking a partner, wife or even gf when I met my wife. I was messing around with a few different women at the time, waiting for the end of June 2021 to get there so I could leave TN for good, having already accepted a job in Maryland, lost my best friend in December 2020, needed a fresh start. My wife messaged me on bumble about baseball and sports in Late April. We talked on the phone for like 4 hours a few nights in a row. And then we finally hung out. We hung out for 3 nights in a row, and then she had to help her best friend move out to Cali for two weeks. A very long two weeks. I told her I wasn’t looking and that I was moving to MD in June. She pushed the fuck it button and applied for a lead neuro RN role at John’s Hopkins. She got a call back 24 hours after applying. She had her in person job shadow the week after she came back from Cali, and decided to road trip with me up to MD to take my first load of stuff to the new apt. We never spent a day apart again. Proposed in front of her and my family the last day we were in TN in June. Married that same October. Love finds you, you don’t find it.

The U.S. Open winner takes home $4,300,000 this week at Shinnecock Hills. But the headline number is never the take-home number. Our partner @Mike_kim714 — one of the most refreshingly honest voices in pro golf — has openly shared the real math behind a Tour pro's earnings. We turned his numbers into a clear breakdown: - ~10% of the winner's check goes to the caddie - Federal state income tax takes ~32% - A top-50 pro effectively runs a small business — caddie, coaching, travel, physio can top $1M/year - On a $5M season, take-home lands around $2.4M And because pros pay income tax in every state they play, where you win matters: the same check can carry a ~$478K swing between a California and a Florida event. A good reminder for any high earner — athlete or not: what you keep matters more than what you make. Good luck at Shinnecock, Michael. 👏 — Michael Kim is a paid partner of Range. Wednesday thoughts from US open: - I played the back nine again to check out 10 and 11. -I tested out hitting it short of the massive downhill on 10 but I think it’s better to hit it down the slope. 180 yd shot is too long for that small of a hitting area. - I’ve got a cool group. I’m looking forward to seeing Jackson Koivun’s game and see if he’s all that. (I’ve already played 5 rounds with Sahith this yr.) Haskins winners only haha - It’s easy to get intimidated because of the difficulty of certain holes like 7 10 11 but as long as I execute, I’ll be able to manage a score. It’s hard for everyone - My mental game will have to be on point. HIGH level of acceptance. If you have a short fuse, it’s not going to go well here. You will get bad breaks and putts that won’t go in because of wind or some bumps. Gotta take it all in stride and move on to the next shot. The whiners aren’t going to have a chance this week.

Adam Scott is making his 100th consecutive major championship start this week. He'll join Jack Nicklaus as the only men to achieve that milestone. "It's a strange one because it's not something you really set out to do or aim for. But in all honesty, since Pinehurst a couple years ago, it kind of was on my radar. Earlier this year, as I wasn't automatically qualified for this event, it became a bit of a weight on my shoulders making sure I got here. "It's been fun. I had a photograph with Jack Nicklaus a couple of weeks ago at his Memorial Tournament, and he's the other guy who made it to a hundred in a row. He, in fact, made it way past that, and I can't even think about playing another 11 or 12 years straight of these, but I'm really excited for this week."

And then there were four. West Virginia North Carolina Georgia Oklahoma If you want to make it to the semifinals of the College World Series, clearly, the last letter in your state’s name has to be an A.

Conor McGregor reacted to Ilia Topuria’s loss to Justin Gaethje: “I knew that was gonna happen to him. You need to get it put on you in the gym. He’s walking forward with the hands down on the opening bell, you’re gonna get walloped. He’s a bit flat footed, he’s not a full complete fighter. But he’s good. His face will have to heal, it’s smashed up. I’ve not been there before, I’ve only bled my blood once inside the octagon. He’s got banged up bad. It’s gonna be a dark place that he’s in right now. He’s gonna have to dig deep. Can he do it? I think he could.” (via @arielhelwani)

In golf we love celebrating the wins but we do a poor job of celebrating all the other stuff. Consistency. Longevity. Adam Scott playing his 100th consecutive major championship this week is an incredible accomplishment. Every major since the 2001 Open!

Having a tough intrinsic battle with upcoming vacation: Money is not a factor: 1) Do I get a one week gym pass so I can workout in a commercial gym setting and stay active that way Or 2) do I golf 3-5 rounds while I’m on vacation instead (already plan on playing 1x min)
