Happy International Day of Mathematics!
Students enjoyed creating maths jokes, a scavenger hunt, decimal place and free hand circle competition, and telling us some Pi facts for a party pie.

Feeling privileged to be part of this program.
Today we listened, thought deeply, collaborated with colleagues and discussed how to improve teaching for all students raise the status of our the profession.

Number pattern graph creation. Here we looked at doubling and it made a cardioid graph. We then looked at what happens when we triple, quadruple or quintile!

#Maths300 2 L Balloon Problem. It was so lovely to see the students enjoying and engaged with the maths. We then analysed the diameter vs. volume graph and looked at how the volume of a sphere formula can be derived. Awesome numberphile video - youtube.com/watch?v=2IZh-KIA…

Trialing @pwharris Problem Strings using the skills of simplifying algebraic fractions & solving algebra. Enjoying how it addresses misconceptions from years prior, allowing Ss to go further & understand conceptually what is going on and why. @MathsCirclesOz #mathschat #MTBOZ

I see this group of 7 Year 10 ext Ss 3 times a week for 20 minutes. The routine works wonderfully in a small group setting using mini whiteboards!

The 'tools' below are part of my current improvement project - 'Quality Writing in Maths' aiming to improve numeracy & literacy outcomes as well as enhance problem solving & reasoning among Ss. My school will use these in starter questions, problem solving lessons & assessments.
