Distributed solar CAN be cheaper than utility scale, especially if you count T&D costs. Homes already have an interconnection, structure, etc. Most of the world can do distributed solar for <$1/W, and in many cases <$0.5/W.

This is an interesting idea: rooftop solar can free up space on the grid for things like AI (or EVs and heat pumps while were are here). It completely undercuts the anti-rooftop disinformation campaign that the utilities have been waging for years. fastcompany.com/91409132/why…

Truth is we are moving in the wrong direction and Sierra Club has the receipts!
22 Sep 2025
‼️ NEW: A new Sierra Club report shows that U.S. utilities are doubling down on expensive fossil fuels instead of investing in affordable, clean energy. Is your utility making you pay for pricey, dirty energy? Find out at sc.org/dirtytruth.

California can either keep paying for costly gas peaker plants, or fund Demand Side Grid Support (DSGS), America’s biggest virtual power plant. DSGS has provided clean backup power since 2022. Don’t let it end. Save DSGS! @ilike_mike @CAgovernor @CASpeakerRivas

The Trump administration wants to keep dirty, aging fossil fuel plants open past their prime. That could cost utility customers billions of dollars each year. Dive into the data with @jeffsaintjohn: canarymedia.com/articles/pol…

The Trump administration wants to roll back Solar for All funding just as states, tribes, and nonprofits were starting to use it to deploy low-cost solar power — and as the country looks for all the electricity it can get. canarymedia.com/articles/sol…

Could we serve data-center size demand with small scale resources? Yes, if we coordinate them in what are called distributed power plants! Get the scoop from Shannon Anderson, leading this work @SolarNeighbors: vist.ly/436n8

Wow. 12 GWs of natural gas plants have unplanned outages in Texas right now, more than twice the amount the grid is supposed to be able to handle. Batteries keeping the lights on as we speak.

The best time to plan for dispatchable, distributed power plants was 10 years ago. The second best time is today. The power of leveraging home-to-grid resources to build more affordable, flexible grid is being proven out across the country. At a time when we need it most.

Virtual power plants (VPPs) connect distributed resources like solar, batteries, and EVs, creating a powerful energy resource. VPPs can meet demand during spikes, using clean energy. It's time to invest in VPPs, not outdated fossil fuel infrastructure, to secure a cleaner future.
