Introducing the American Dynamism Cinematic Universe Grant has been leaving bread crumbs for 5 years, no doubt people will start noticing more now
After 9 months of putting this together, I'm excited to finally share a project that I've wanted to exist for years now: The State of Adventure Capital

Liking this may entice Donald to post more. Do it for the greater good.
More takes: 1. Using AI for tasks like summarization and call notes is a consensus take. If you are here, you are behind the curve. But it's easy to catch up - @NotebookLM , @meetgranola , etc. 2. Most 'deep research' tools do deep *search*, not research. Don't confuse them.

AI investing is crazy. - AI infra is just rebuilding microservices patterns - mcp is a mess - valuation is 📈 - space is changing so fast - OpenAI is a product company (takes consumer) - Microsoft takes enterprise - building on LLMs is like building on mobile (good for indy)

It's the software—not hardware—holding robots back from mainstream adoption. @TerranMott cuts through the hype to show what it'll take to unlock the $1tn robotics frontier. One of my favorite people to learn from: joincolossus.com/article/whe…

The best open-source robotics dataset––Open-X-Embodiment––is 1,673x smaller than Common Crawl, the leading repository from which LLM training datasets are curated. Last year, $1bn went to startups working to close this gap.

1/ SpaceX is one of the most valuable private companies in the world. Launch costs have dropped by nearly 45x since the days of the Space Shuttle. Over $75bn of investment has been poured into companies building space infrastructure since 2015. But investors with long memories will think back to the turn of the millennium and ask, "Haven't we been here before?"

We made something new… Introducing: Colossus Review Colossus Review is a print (and digital) publication that creates definitive accounts of investors, founders, companies, and the people and ideas that inspire them. The cover story in Issue 1 is on @GrahamDuncanNYC, but we also include a separate 4.5 hour conversation with Graham that is among the best I’ve ever done (via a private audio feed). In each issue, we will cover great people who have unique ideas and are doing something about them. Maniacs on a mission. People doggedly pursuing their life’s work. We aim to create the definitive profiles of people who haven’t yet been covered in depth, and to create unique accounts of those you already know well. We will cover businesses. We will profile investing firms. We will explore frontiers, answering questions like “Is Space Investable?” Most podcasts take hours to create. Features in Colossus Review will take months to years. Our plan is to release new issues quarterly. I hope, eventually, it’s monthly. I’m so proud of the team’s work on issue one, and issue two is going to be even better. Our goal is to experiment with new features and formats, constantly improving what we cover and how we do it. So, why do this at all? Howard Thurman said, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” That’s who we are searching for. This work makes US come alive. We hope our work lights a fire in your belly to find and do your thing, and to never settle for a mundane life. We only printed 1,000 copies this time, and expect them to sell extremely quickly, so I’d urge you to grab one if you want one. We will make more next time. Colossus Review will be our most essential distillation. Thank you for joining us on the ride! joincolossus.com/review

Help us spread the word on an important new role: We are hiring an Editor in Chief at @joincolossus. Our podcasts reach ~8m unique people a year and the scope of our ambition is growing.  We are building a platform to find and shine a light on the most interesting people and ideas on the frontiers of business and investing.  That'll include perpetual improvements on our existing shows, exploring new formats (there's already a print publication in the works!), and lots of experiments (content, guests, marketing, new shows)–always with an ear to our audience.  The right Editor in Chief will push our pace getting there while keeping our quality bar high and our voice consistent.  The only requirements are an incredible passion for business and investing, excellent taste, and serious operational chops.  You will work very hard. You will build a team. You will meet incredibly interesting people along the way. Your work will be an expression of your standards and interests. And, if we're doing our jobs, you will stoke curiosity and agency in millions of people. Apply here: joincolossus.com/eic Must be based in NY, SF, Seattle. Some travel is required in all cases.

The safety gap between a helicopter and a commercial airliner is nuts. As Skyryse founder Mark Groden taught me, flying a helicopter is like balancing a marble on top of an inverted glass bowl using your index fingers. They crash often. Commercial airliners basically never crash. There’s a server room underneath the cockpits, and sophisticated systems that allow pilots to fly by wire. These systems make commercial aviation multiples safer than general aviation The future of flying is bringing the systems and safety standards from big commercial planes to small helicopters and planes in the general aviation world This conversation with Mark gets into tons of detail about flying and automated transport. I learned a ton. Enjoy!

VCs have "rules" that seem silly: need a warm intro, no typos in deck, company <18 mo old, etc. People assume the VC's mental model is: P(this company is good | rule broken) = 0 Here's the actual model: P(take mtg w/"rule-breaker" | more great opps than I have time for) = 0
