A big milestone for my beloved dad today: His hand has been moving non-stop for the @newyorker's pages since 1962. I am so lucky to have grown up watching him work, obsessing over composition, the expression of scraggly face, and how best bringing the idea and the joke to life.
Today the prolific New Yorker artist and cartoonist Edward Koren celebrates his 60th anniversary at the magazine.

It's wonderful to see his opus honored. He's not on Twitter but I'll make sure he sees this fabulous thread and any quote tweets, etc. - he might call it 'a giant love fest.' It will make him so happy.

First Draft News has a bunch of resources on how to talk to family/neighbors/students etc. about COVID misinformation. Offering up the facts works better after making some kind of personal connection/validates a shared experience. firstdraftnews.org/latest/to…

What to do when an anti-vax neighbor starts posting lengthy warnings about COVID vaccines to a building email list?! Lots of unsubstantiated details about vaccines’ bad effects & links to Children’s Health Defense. I would usually ignore her but just can’t let this one slide.

Respectful bird parties are my kind of parties these days.
The SNOWY OWL of the Central Park North Meadow was not much bothered by the crows that gathered around it earlier and that have now returned. People are staying behind distant fences and being quiet and respectful.

Seeing "love" in the name of a media company, along with "uplift" and "respect" around the communities a news organization serves is so radical (in both senses) and so needed. May it be a model. Brava @mitrakalita and @slomaxreese

can't emphasize enough how strange it is to see D.C. as a veritable ghost town on Inauguration Day
On 7/D nw in #Washington the restaurants are shuttered on what would usually be one of the biggest days of the year. Seem to be 10 journalists and 50 law enforcement for each pedestrian

If you are in a position of responsibility at a tech or media co and think of yourself as an ally/someone who takes DEI seriously, the point @s_m_i is making here is critically important.
