While there is little doubt there are legitimate water quality concerns in South Africa, this test with a cheap electrolysis precipitator is bogus and pure clickbait.
The colours are mostly due to oxidation (corrosion) of the device’s electrodes, not due to contaminants in the water. It’s a common trick used by water filter salespeople. This is not how you test drinking water.
