Marriage isn't simply the next step on the relationship ladder. It is a conscious commitment that your partner can rely on you, and knowing beyond any doubt that you can rely on them. Marriage takes work, absolutely. But I believe in working hard at work worth doing.

Trump administration speedrunning American collapse
An alien who is in the U.S. temporarily and wants a Green Card must return to their home country to apply. This policy allows our immigration system to function as the law intended instead of incentivizing loopholes. The era of abusing our nationโ€™s immigration system is over.

The Senate just passed my โ€œPlug & Play Solar Actโ€ โ€” allowing people to install small plug-in solar devices, sometimes known as โ€œbalcony solar,โ€ in order to lower electric bills. SB 868 will make plug-in solar an option for millions of Californians who are now shut out from the benefits of solar energy. Currently, plug-in solar is rarely used in California since you have to enter into a full interconnection agreement with your utility, which isnโ€™t feasible. Plug-in solar is a great solution for renters, who are largely excluded from the cost-reduction benefits of solar, & for homeowners who canโ€™t afford the upfront costs of rooftop solar. Iโ€™m grateful to our coalition & to my colleagues for passing the bill.

The high agency triangle
someone yesterday asked me what i thought high agency meant. i think itโ€™s usually some unholy combination of: - resourcefulness - relentlessness - resilience this has always been rare, but rn it feels borderline unfair. the world has never had more leverage just sitting around waiting for one person stubborn enough to use it.

In 2025 Safeway's profit margin was just 0.3% (per the SEC). If Prop D passes, they will have a NET LOSS of 0.93%. What will Safeway do if Prop D passes? Their only two choices are RAISE GROCERY PRICES or LEAVE THE CITY.

Did you know in San Francisco, you can block housing from being built because itโ€ฆ causes a shadow? Over the last 10 years, over 2000 units of housing have been delayed or stalled because of this. That's why Iโ€™m announcing the SHADE Act - or Slashing Housing Appeals And Delays Everywhere. You see today, our city treats โ€œshadowsโ€ the same as toxic waste in our environmental review process. It allows anyone to appeal a project and stop it from being built on the grounds of some shade caused by a new building. The SHADE Act will in turn: 1) eliminate local allowances for shadow as a reason for an environmental appeal, 2) streamline our environmental review processes from 30 days to 15 days, and 3) simplify and modernize our public notification processes. Because letโ€™s face it, San Francisco is paying too high a price for being afraid of its own shadow. Itโ€™s time to fix that.

Saikat's special guest is Hasan Piker, who has said such things as: - America "deserved 9/11" - Orthodox Jews are "inbred" - He'd "vote for Hamas" - "No issue with" Hezbollah - Mao Zedong's Little Red Book was "really, really special"

SFUSD's 'reforms' were meant to achieve 'equity'. The number of African American students taking AP math exams fell from 27 to 3.
4/5 When I was first studying the California Math Framework claims I came across this chart. Following the reforms in SFUSD, the number of African American students taking AP math exams went from 27 to 18 to 12 to 3.

Only one chance in this lifetimeโ€ฆ Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldnโ€™t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the viewโ€ฆthis is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

Justice should be swift, certain, and mounted
Whether on foot or on hooves, our officers are always ready. After someone stole a purse near West 72nd Street, our Mounted officer & his horse, Kelly, kept on her trail. Galloping down the street & with the help of a witness, they recovered the purse & apprehended the suspect.

when i was a baby my dad was driving me late at night and a drunk driver asleep at the wheel hit us head-on. my dad was in a coma for weeks. i needed hundreds of stitches. i still have a massive scar. many years later, i got to work at waymo during the first few years we were testing, launching, and scaling in sf. there was a huge amount to do, but it all felt pretty fucking amazing when we got to see logs like this. superhuman moments. it's easy to write off these things as just another expensive uber competitor for techies who don't want to talk to people. but humans behind the wheel are one of the top causes of death and injury globally. and one day not long from now self driving cars will make the kinds of accidents that happened to me a thing of the past.
Speed matters. A @Waymo vehicle was driving in a 25mph zone in LA when an oncoming car swerved into our lane while speeding up to over 70mphโ€ฆ 3x the speed means 9x the destructive energy. Good to see the Waymo Driver react early and safely to make room.
