The Timms Review on PIP is designed to ensure we have a fair benefits system. 14 years of inaction by the Tories allowed the benefits bill to rise. Giving advice to others when you couldn't manage it yourself in government snacks of opportunism.

This is something I hope all the Derbyshire MPs can agree on - after all there was a clean sweep at the last election!
New: Derbyshire Dales MP @JohnWhitbyMP has signed a letter opposing the leadership campaign He tells me, "If we're tanking in the opinion polls in a couple years time, maybe you'd do something about it, but we are not even two years in, it's not time to panic"

Congratulations to the Greens on their by-election victory. And huge thanks to all volunteers and supporters who campaigned for Labour in Gorton & Denton. It was a hard fought campaign and you should be proud of the efforts put into connecting with voters.

All the best from Surrey Heath to those campaigning for Angeliki in Gorton & Denton. It's never been truer that every vote counts. VOTE LABOUR
Back Labour. Stop Reform.

Reports back from Gorton & Denton. Reform v Labour seems main battle. Support for Farage's party notable in Gorton in areas of owner occupied houses. Some for Labour. Elsewhere surprising levels of support for Lab, including Muslim areas. Greens - mainly m/c and student backing.

Glad the Parliamentary Labour Party MPs and Cabinet have backed Keir Starmer. Mistakes have been made but believe we're on the right track. Inflation is expected to fall below 2% in April and the £150 energy bill reduction will certainly help. - keep focussing on delivery.

Agree with the comments below - I was surprised that her response was so petulant. It's of course fine to make political points but really destroyed her own arguments by the manner of delivery.
Utterly juvenile and unparliamentary antics from @KemiBadenoch during her response to the Budget. Desperate, undignified and ineffective. #Budget2026

The Tories are apoplectic that their £47bn of welfare cuts have been rejected and that 550,000 children will be lifted out of poverty. Says all you need to know about what the Tories stand for.

Just a reminder of the Tory economic record.
Economy under @Conservatives from 2010-24 📈Inflation peak 11.5%. 4.6% annualised 2019-2024 ⬇️Brexit loss 4% GDP and devalued £ 2️⃣Two recessions 🤡Truss collapsing market ♻️Six chancellors in five years 💷Debt rising 70 to 94% GDP / £1.1tn to £2.4tn 💼Unemployment 8.1.% peak

Happy to see Darren Jones appointed to senior cabinet. He's a strong communicator who should be able to excel in this role

What a brilliant knock by Davina Perrin as part of the Northern Supercharger Women's highest total of 214 for 5. London Spirit have a mountain to climb #thehundred2025

What a scintillating end to the third England v India Test match. 112-8 with 2 wickets or 81 runs to win. The first day was an oven (see below) - looks more pleasant today

Lots of values based policies coming out at the moment - great to see. Looking forward to concerted action on child poverty in the coming months
We're ending nearly two centuries of injustice towards some of the most vulnerable in society. No one should be criminalised for sleeping rough. By scrapping the cruel, outdated Vagrancy Act, we're ensuring people get support and dignity - not punishment. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/l…

Really happy to see £2bn funding for transport for the East Midlands Mayoral Aithority and the decision to proceed with the Chesterfield/Staveley Regeneration Route (Brimington Bypass) Traffic congestion has been a long-standing problem in Brimington and Staveley on the A619.

This is what a commitment to growth looks like
Within just two weeks, we have secured trade deals with India, the US and now the EU. Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer is delivering for British people, British businesses, and British jobs.

The two areas I do a lot of campaigning for Labour are North Derbyshire and West Surrey. Uncontrolled migration is frequently raised across the two. The immigration White Paper is a clear attempt to bring migration down in line with Labour-likely voter concerns.
