I was a communist. What changed me wasn’t growing old. It was a trip to the USSR. Vibe was great but the shelves were bare. Hotel toilet paper was a commy party booklet. Literally
Why does Elon feel likes he’s entitled to $1,000,000,000,000 ???

They tested it for 1000s of hours with UK AISI among others but @elder_plinius jailbroke it overnight. No wonder the blob wants to ban X 😂
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Geologically prudent also IMO

This is the final straw. Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.

Captured by Anduril's network of 400 telescopes deployed around the globe: The second stage of the Falcon Heavy launch of ViaSat 3-F3 performing a routine thrust event. This produced a spiraled-shaped plume effect, a nominal part of operations for a successful launch of Viasat's latest satellite.

Gutenberg … so far
History is shaped by men who saw the world not as it was, but as it could be. Which inventor has had the greatest impact on human civilization? A) Johannes Gutenberg B) Nikola Tesla C) Thomas Edison D) Elon Musk E) The Wright Brothers Who’s your pick and who did I leave off?

- People did not put up with natural philosophers and star-gazers, as they were called back then, because they explained away the divine as nonsensical causes, unreasoning forces and inevitable events. Protagoras was exiled, Pericles barely managed to save the imprisoned Anaxagoras, Socrates, who had no connection to any these affairs, still perished because of his philosophy. Plutarch, Nicias 23.3

When the dome opens, the night sky is the star of the show! 🌌 Inside NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory, the 8.4m telescope sits under an enormous dome. The open slit might seem too narrow, but it’s all we need to protect the telescope while giving full access to the sky.

I first visited Tokyo a few years later and remember this vibe well ❤️
🇯🇵 Tokyo from the mid 80s almost looks a dream but this is actually real. It's not AI but instead from Wim Wenders' "Tokyo-Ga" from 1985.

The tough love every writer needs to hear
After writing The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald had a complete meltdown about whether he'd ever write anything good again. Hemingway wrote him a letter that contains what's probably the best advice on imposter syndrome: "For Christ's sake, write and don't worry about what the boys will say nor whether it will be a masterpiece nor what... You can write twice as well now as you ever could. All you need to do is write truly and not care about what the fate of it is. Go on and write."

Maybe I should start using film again. Used to have a dark room and everything…
ISS transit, captured the analog way. Jase tracked the station crossing the lunar disk—timing, positioning, and execution all have to land perfectly for a shot like this. And with film, you don’t get instant feedback. You only know you nailed it once the roll is developed. Shot with a Celestron EdgeHD 8", paired with a Nikon F5 on Kodak P3200. 📸: @jase.film

A first look behind the scenes at some of the most exciting upgrades to 35mm film production in decades. Two brand-new, state-of-the-art converting machines. Film photography has always been about more than just taking pictures. It’s about slowing down, learning the craft, and enjoying the process, and that’s something more and more people are discovering (or rediscovering) every day. But the reality is, much of the industry has been relying on ageing equipment for years. This investment is about changing that. #ilfordphoto #filmphotography #behindthescenes #35mmfilm #analogueforever

To misquote Musk, I love JS Bach as much as any straight man can love another.
