We are a non-profit organization that believes safe and efficient infrastructure is essential to keeping South Carolina’s people and economy moving forward.
The SCDOT Modernization bill passed the legislature last week. A big thank you to members of the South Carolina House and Senate for supporting practical reforms that will improve transportation outcomes across our state. #KeepSCMovingForward
Thank you to every member of the SC House for your support of the SCDOT Modernization bill. 🛣️🚧This will help deliver projects faster and gives the state more tools to meet South Carolina’s growing infrastructure needs. #ModernizeSC#KeepSCMovingForward
Two SCDOT modernization bills. One clear comparison.
We’ve broken down the key components of each plan to make it easy to see what’s included:
🏛️ Strengthened governance & accountability
⚡ Tools to deliver projects faster
📍 Optional local control & improved planning
🚧 More timely infrastructure improvements
⚖️ Ensuring all drivers contribute fairly
These bills (S.831 and H.5071) will help South Carolina deliver projects more efficiently and effectively. Take a look and stay informed.
SCFOR supports efforts to modernize SCDOT and improve how transportation projects are delivered. Legislation recently passed the Senate and members of the House will soon debate ways to strengthen accountability, enhance planning, and help speed up project delivery.
At a time when dollars aren’t going as far as they used to, and the state continues to deal with rapid growth, these bills (S.831 and H.5071) are a step in the right direction to keep our state moving forward. #ModernizeSC#roads#bridges#safety#KeepSCMovingForward
SCFOR applauds the Senate’s passage of @SCDOTPress modernization legislation this week. The bill delivers comprehensive, forward-looking policy reforms that modernize how SC delivers transportation projects. It strengthens accountability, coordination, and transparency while providing new tools to deliver projects more effectively and efficiently.
Since 2017, thousands of miles of repairs and improvements have been delivered statewide and this progress is no accident. It is the result of bold investment and an ongoing commitment to use general funds and one-time funding opportunities to keep projects moving.
These investments have been invaluable because South Carolina is growing rapidly, but our dedicated revenues are not. To maintain momentum, additional funding is necessary, and we applaud the call to ensure that investments continue so that critical projects in the pipeline can continue to move forward. #KeepSCMovingForward#roads#bridges#safety
Over the last several years, South Carolina has made tremendous progress improving our roadways, with major projects underway in every corner of the state. But our population is skyrocketing, and inflation is driving up construction costs and creating delays. That’s why I am recommending the General Assembly appropriate an additional $1.1 billion in new state funding to keep road projects moving and on schedule.
Roads and bridges are more than infrastructure; they’re the pathways that link our communities and opportunities together. As we step into the new year, we’re excited to continue working toward a safer, stronger, and more connected South Carolina for everyone who lives, works, and travels here. Happy New Year!
It has been a busy week! The #SCHouse@SCDOTPress Modernization Committee took a deep dive into the big questions around how we move people and goods across our state. Legislators heard briefings on SCDOT structure/operations, future transportation needs, funding mechanisms, and long-term planning. Key highlights:
🚗 South Carolina is growing fast, and our transportation system has to keep up.
📈 Long-range planning identifies major needs in mobility, freight movement, and both urban and rural infrastructure.
🔧 We MUST explore ways to streamline operations, improve coordination, and modernize project delivery.
💰 Funding challenges remain, with rising costs and stagnant revenues putting added pressure on the system.
We are grateful to the committee for rolling up their sleeves and working to shape policies that will drive our state forward.

A big thank you to our speakers, sponsors, and attendees for making our 2025 Annual Meeting a success! Investing in change means ensuring our transportation policies promote efficiency, better planning, and a sustainable funding model. It means standing unified in our message that infrastructure isn’t a cost, it’s an investment that delivers value to every corner of South Carolina.
