Welcome to the SSD group at the Physics Department at Strathclyde Uni.: ssd.phys.strath.ac.uk/ GaN, AlGaN, GaInN, GaAs, CuInSe2, Cu2ZnSnS4, etc. We love them all!
Various members of the SSD looking forward to attending the International Workshop on Gallium Oxide and Related Materials (IWGO) in Berlin from 26/5/24 grafox2022.pdi-berlin.de/iwg…
Our project on tuneable radiation-resilient (AlGa)2O3 UVC photodetectors, led by @FabienMassabuau, has been announced. Funded by the UK Space Agency Enabling Technology Programme, this is a consortium of Strathclyde, Dundee and Bristol Universities.

And to discover that the SEMs can run successfully from two floors above them in Strathclyde University’s Technology and Innovation Centre @PhysicsStrath@UniStrathclyde
Congratulations to Pedro Urbano Alves et al. on publishing "Waveguide-Integrated Colloidal Nanocrystal Supraparticle Lasers", outlining pioneering steps towards the use of self-assembled microlasers in integrated photonics. ACS Applied Optical Materials pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.102…
Evening “rump session” underway at #icns14 - will UVC-LEDs and lasers catch up blue ones? I reckon not but the initial audience vote is more positive. Will the discussion persuade me to change my mind?
Congratulations to two new Dr. D’s - Daniel who had a successful PhD viva today and Douglas who passed his viva online some time back. Sorry for all the times your supervisor got your names muddled up!
Great day in Bristol today talking about all things Gallium Oxide at the Ultra Wide-bandgap oxides conference. Topped off by being awarded the prize for best student presentation 🥳
Less than 1 week to go 📢 Exited to be giving a talk at the UWO in Bristol discussing the impact of Hydrogen on the UV luminescence properties of alpha Ga2O3. See the GIF to see the evolution of the luminescence line at 3.8 eV at low temp ❄

KrisBarr from @UniStrathclyde is talking about semiconductor quantum dots for solid state quantum systems #SUPAGathering
ALT Kris Barr stands behind a PC lectern, with a raised hand while he presents. He has a shaved head, with medium length beard, and wears a grey jacket over a light blue shirt.
Great to see @Semiconductor_T provide a commentary on our paper about UV-emitting LED nano structures: “MOVPE core–shell AlGaN nanorods for UV emission” semiconductor-today.com/news……
Our paper on Ni/Au contacts in #ALD#Ga2O3 is now published in JJAP @ioppublishing
We studied the structural/chemical/electrical properties of the contact against annealing to gain insights into the mechanisms affecting devices .

Delighted to share my first first-author paper 🥳
Here we use Temperature-dependent photoluminescence to reveal a 3.8 eV emission line in alpha phase Ga2O3 that exhibits a strong dependence with Hydrogen concentration and temperature.

So excited to give the Foxon lecture today at UKNC in Bristol!
Starting 2023 with presenting our work on #microscopy of trench defects in #GaN, contacts in #Ga2O3, and hydrogen in #Ga2O3
