I have a game on @chesscom going with a player who’s based in the Vatican. I know I’m gonna win; he’ll never willingly sacrifice a bishop.

This is true, and, many Jewish Democrats have political whiplash because Judaism used to be on the Good side of this line and is now on the Bad side.
Something pretty obvious I was talking about with a Dem strategist the other day: Nobody in the party has a problem celebrating Islam, Hinduism; any faith brought to US via later immigration. But celebrate Christianity loudly and other Dems look at you funny, assume you’re RW.

If you’ve not read Sam Harris’ substack yet, it’s really worth it. Here are the immediately preceding paragraphs to the one below:
A simply superb paragraph by Sam Harris.

Like everything else in the Milky Way, it is moving 1.3 million miles per hour.
Explain using physics: Is the drone stationary or moving at 50 kph?

The allegations against Platner are better corroborated than the allegations against Brett Kavanaugh were and it will be interesting to see who manages to be consistent in their beliefs about such things.

What was the communist statistician’s goal? To socialize the medians of production.

The sort of guy who cheats on his wife cheats at other things. Conscientiousness is consistent across a person's lifetime. It's a perfectly fine reason to think less of a candidate for public office.

Question at the intersection of interfaith relations & technology: Has Magnifica Humanitas caused a sudden spike in Jews learning sefer Nehemiah large enough for @SefariaProject to detect?

A good article by Z. Wainer, I. Kurtz, & @dpkenter: ejewishphilanthropy.com/enga… I can't help thinking that it should be *some part* of the communal conversation to note that some troubles keeping men invested in Jewish life may derive from the choice of gender-egal synagogues.
My defense of Orthodox gender roles in synagogue does NOT appeal to the legal technicalities. Rather, it explores the social goods that seem to ultimately result from the gender restrictions that are not, I admit (on an individualist level) fair. hamletschimera.substack.com/…

It is actually funny that we basically just had to find the right genus of squamate to milk. Like we were directionally correct about snake oil being a miracle drug.
We really need a better name for the category of drug than “GLP-1 agonist.” I propose either “lizard oil” or “tincture of monster.”

$250K to @GiveDirectly, $250K to @Masbia, $250K to a Jewish day school scholarship fund, and $250K on several days’ worth of out of season berries and cherries for my kids.
You've inherited one million dollars but you're only allowed to spend it on other people. What are you going to do first?

Only sick & vile terrorists would attack a house of worship that also has a daycare full of children because they have issues with the faith or due to political conflicts at home or abroad, whether at a Muslim Center in San Diego or a Jewish Synagogue in Michigan. Stop the hate💔
