Can confirm we’re getting hit pretty hard in Bishopton. Power is out and estimate for restoration is 1:30pm tomorrow. Fences and trees are down, even the metal housing for an electricity exchange has blown off and is careering down the road. I’ve never experienced winds like it.
Intense and violent wind gusts of 86mph at Bishopton and 82mph at Glasgow airport. Displayed here on the weather.obs weather observations page.

Just saw Easter eggs in my local coop. Easter eggs!!! We’ve barely finished celebrating the holy wean’s birth, could we not give it at least a month before thinking about his death?!

Missing yet another gig due to current health situ 😩 I’ve lost count of the events I’ve missed since Aug but it’s into double digits now. Was hoping I’d manage tonight; it’s just a wee folk gig. It was going to be a roadtest for returning to “normal life” but my body says no ☹️

Amazing work 👏👏👏 @thurible was this line your doing? I’ve been thinking about Ashley & Janey’s many friends & family today. Janey always reminded me of my mum, they had the same grit & sense of humour, despite traumatic childhoods. Both incredibly strong women taken too soon.

This might be what pushes me to finally post the thread I drafted in early Oct but was too scared to post. I have both of these experiences & this debate needs input from the not insubstantial number of us who have seen both “sides”. The current bill is a thin end of a wedge…
this is why i don’t like the debate. people who’ve watched loved ones die justifiably have strong feelings, but ignoring the fact these policies have led to the eugenics of disabled people is something we’re allowed to say without being accused of cruelty. i’d like to live thanks

Everyone deserves dignity in death. I developed PTSD after my mum’s prolonged death. I prayed to a God I don’t believe in for her to die faster. It still affects me; when I was in the HDU in Sept the sounds of other patients struggling to breathe caused agonising flashbacks 8/9

I still fundamentally believe we should be able to choose when to end our lives but not until these very real concerns have been addressed & safeguards are in place. We’ve seen the slippery slope elsewhere, it’s not an unfounded fear. We need to fund life before we fund death 9/9

Welp that’s the worst insomnia night yet & I had 3 medical appts to get through today. This symptom resurgence is too much. I feel almost as bad as I did in Sept 😩 Knowing I should be in Prague w/Em & pals makes it even worse. That’s holiday no.3 I’ve missed out on this year ☹️

I’ve stayed out of this debate, despite writing a thread last month that I was too scared to post (it’s still in my drafts). I’m about as progressive as you can get & I’m terrified of how rushed this bill is. Comments like this demonstrate why the risk of coercion is very valid…
They are using their case and concerns to try and stop it for everyone. Not convinced it’s moral for me to pay taxes to support the disabled when if I ever find myself in that situation I would rush to end it. Different systems for different moralities needed.

Many disabled folk feel like burdens to family & friends. Many live in poverty. Many are acutely aware people see us as a drain on their taxes, though we too pay taxes. Many don’t get appropriate support. We need to help disabled people live before making it easier for us to die.

I’m still here (mostly lurking) for now… but you can also find me where skies are bluer & the bots are fewer! I’m not posting much yet, what with still being miserably unwell (☹️), but I’ll hopefully be back to my usual antics in the next wee while so drop me a follow please!

So the latest fun in my life, is I’ve rapidly developed cataracts in both eyes as a side-effect of the treatments I’m on 🙃 It’s not too bad right now, but the sudden onset means it may also progress quickly. Why does life-saving treatment also have to be so life-altering?! 🫠
