Glad to see people who think we're heading into the singularity still turning the crank on gender and dating discourse like galley slaves on a trireme

Everyone mad at anthropic for not democratizing the stove
Dario has one song, and he sings it over and over again. I will repeat mine: Anthropic is not an AI company. It is an attempt by the Effective Altruism movement to take over and control AI research and development. The proposals he makes here should remind you of that.

OH IF IT ISNT THE CONSEQUENCES OF MY OWN ACTIONS LMAO
Feeling robbed of my path to citizenship right now after grinding a PhD and contributing to foundational AI computing technologies for the United States for the past ~ 10 years. Feels like robbing top and technologists like me of the opportunity to achieve the American Dream.

Once the treatlers experience the Summer of Hormuz we're looking at a D 12 environment easy

In our surveys, we consistently see that the *only* group Republicans aren't collapsing with is white, college-educated voters. In fact, in several of them, Republicans outrun Trump's 2024 vote share! So it means super white states (NE/NH/ME/WI) probably see less of a shift left

craziest thing about using an exoskeleton is that your brain adapts to it completely in about 20 minutes. Then when you take it off you feel like you've removed a piece of yourself. Your mind rebels at the absurd imposition of having to move your own limbs

I could never be that confident assessing the change in the relative level of Gandhi veneration over the span of 3 decades. I dont think he came up that often
Its kinda funny that as an accident of history Gandhi is nowhere near as venerated as he was 30 years ago

GPT-5.4 Pro solves ErdΕ‘s Problem #1196! Very pleased with this result; definitely my favourite thus far! This problem has been thought about for some time which makes this reasonably impressive and meaningful (see Lichtman's comments below). Formalisation is underway!

It's true maybe they could have communicated better but I'm skeptical there is any honest way to message what the pro-AI people are trying to build without the normies rebelling against it as demonic. It was always going to come to this.

You might not know this but Hormuz sovereignty is a regime-legitimacy issue for the IRGC. They're not going to invite the country they call the Great Satan to comanage their most strategic asset so tankers can pass. That's the point. It doesn't matter what the Navy can or can't do. Iran will never agree to joint anything with the US on the strait.

You might not know that the US Navy has always had free and uninterrupted access to Hormuz. Nothing can stop a carrier squadron from passing through. This is not about the US military establishing presence there which it already has. This is about merchant ships.

Yes inviting the great satan to establish a presence around Iran as equal partners in a money grubbing racket will be an easy sell to the IRGC and Iranian people

Joint management of Hormuz is a great idea actually and Iran should accept it. Even share the toll, if there will be a toll. Reason: - it gets toll when it got 0 toll - it retains the ability to shut it down whenever - it gives both a victory narrative - it paves the way for sanctions removal
