I would be hard-pressed to find a batter more elegant or a cricketer more gracious than Kane Williamson. He played the game with a rare blend of class, humility and dignity, earning admiration far beyond the runs he scored. Cricket will be poorer without him, but as they say, all good things must come to an end. And so does the career of one of the game’s true gentlemen. Thank you, Kane

Why is Dhruv Jurel picked at No. 6 as a specialist bat ahead of Sarfaraz Khan? Can’t be their numbers. Sarfaraz’s first class and Test average is better. It’s a middle order spot which is where Khan generally bats. So what is it?

Cricket gyaan: India A squad for Sri Lanka: NO Sarfaraz Khan yet again ?? Is he not even good enough now to play for India A? Coach Gambhir @GautamGambhir has rightly said that players deserve a long run. The only one who hasn’t got that benefit is Sarfaraz . 6 tests with a hundred and 3 fifties and a first class average of 64. Is there more to it than meets the eye? Hope @imAagarkar who’s done a fine job as chairman of selectors will resolve the puzzle. @BCCI

Come on, @Ram_Guha, this is a bit much. What experience did Barack Obama, a first-term Senator from Illinois, have in world affairs when he became President of the most powerful country on earth, while it was caught up in multiple global issues? For that matter, how much international exposure did the CM of Gujarat have to manage India’s International relationships? @RahulGandhi has led a national party for a dozen years. He has extensive contacts with leaders around the world and no shortage of advisers inside and outside his party. No President or PM handles crises alone; that’s why he heads a government! I think it’s time to put this overblown controversy to rest.

"No one hates Modi & BJP more than me but reality is anti-Modi folks ask me how Rahul Gandhi will handle a Gulf crisis, China attack or emergency? He doesn't qualify." Deep down every Modi hater knows they can trust Modi but not Rahul Gandhi🗿

This being said, it's incontrovertible that Kohli is *the* cricketer of this period. He is him. And he *is* cricket. It's highly highly unfortunate that his Test career fell off like he did; he outperformed everyone in the pace pandemic on diabolical pitches around the world.
It's amazing that Cricinfo's "best" T20 batter and bowler of this century also have serious claims to being the best all-format batter and bowler of this century. In terms of skill, no one beats Bumrah and AB. And, they have a long enough display of performance in all formats.

He makes it sound like Gill was wronged. He wasn't. He's had a great IPL season after that, which is great for him and for the Indian team. That's all there is to it. He will still likely have to bide his time before coming back into the T20 side.
Dropped before T20 World Cup, Shubman Gill keeps calm and lets his bat do the talking. Scores 100 to lead the highest run chase in play offs. 700 plus runs, strike rate of 164, MoM in do-or-die game. Gill comes back with a roar. Next is his first IPL final as captain. What a story.

Although most Congress satraps wanted him as PM, Patel graciously deferred to Gandhi's wish of giving the top job to Nehru. This was partly because Patel knew that Nehru was miles ahead of him in mass popularity. As he himself told the journalist Vincent Sheean, shocked to see the huge crowd at a Congress rally, "They come for Jawahar, not for me."

Sibi George is a very good example of how much standards and benchmarks have plummeted in Modi's new India. Rank mediocrity has risen to the top in the past 12 years.

If blathering on about yoga and Covid and the origins of zero are the best way he can address a direct question about human rights, Indians need to be very sceptical about the effectiveness of our diplomacy.
You ask uncomfortable questions to a diplomat: That is journalism. The diplomat answers the questions in a manner he can: That is diplomacy. You heckle the diplomat repeatedly & stage a walkout: That’s activism, not journalism.

Lol. Read the first line and the second line. You can't rely on him for important games, yet he is the obe who pretty much singlehandedly won you the three most important games india has played in the recent past.
Sanju cant score consistently... thankfully he did in the last 3 matches of the world cup... but this character of Sanju will ruin his career...you cant depend on Sanju to Score in a big and important match...He may Score..& He May not Score...its a sign of a very ordinary player #sanjusamson @ChennaiIPL #ipl #CSKvsSRH

A lot of NRIs.. esp. from the North Indian Brahmin-baniya community, support Modi, not cos they believe he brought any development. They know India is not a place they themselves would move back to.. they wud not want their kids settling in India either. But many of these communities is deeply culture-obsessed.. they want Sanatani dominance and the continuation of a system that made sure of their superiority in Indian society. They feel that this cultural confidence and influence has increased after Modi came to power. So they enjoy a comfortable life in Western countries, benefit from the falling rupee when they visit India.. n at the same time feel satisfied seeing their preferred version of 'Sanatani culture' becoming stronger back home. #northindia #brahmin #baniya

That being distant and unsmiling, and wearing the wrong kind of footwear are considered to be disrespectful of the parliament is a joke. If that is his crime, I'll take it.
The Prime Minister of Nepal arrived at the formal sitting of Parliament to instill disregard for the institution itself, the President of the Republic, the parliamentarians and electorate. Evident in his refusal to address the House, distanced and unsmiling, casual attire and footwear, and walkout midway through the presidential address.

Muthu ji, your political views are your own - but please do speed up the returns on my investments. 😃
Not going to share any personal details. Just want to highlight how perception is different from reality. This is not to support any political party or leader. Want to let you know things are not as they look. In 2013, my client who was professionally working for Rahul Gandhi suggested my name to him to handle his mutual fund investments. From 2013, when UPA 2 was in power to till date when Vijay was sworn in with Congress support, Rahul continues to be my client for mutual fund investments. We have exchanged many mails and has spoken over phone lot of times. And as you are aware, I've been a strong Modi supporter from 2014 to 2024. Never once Rahul or his office staff brought that subject to me. I believe my tweets are regularly seen by his staff. They clearly differentiate between my professional service and political beliefs. And in every single conversation I've with Rahul, he addresses me with respect and never behaved in any haughty manner. Despite knowing my BJP support, he took my input few years ago for choosing a key professional . This post may lead to Rahul terminating our professional relationship. That's ok. Everything should end one day. Wanted to post this to show how main stream media and IT cells of parties can make someone look completely inhuman. I do not know Rahul Gandhi as a politician. Based on last 14 years interaction, all I can say is he respect professionals a lot and a nice human being to interact with. Don't go by media or IT cells - for any party that matter.

There is a form of liberal punditry about the BJP which goes “you have to hand it to them…” You don’t. When you tip your hat to a poisonous majoritarianism, you amplify its aura. When you give the devil his due, you join his baggage train.
