On another note like to throw out some kudos to both ILL universities.
There was a report by JB stating that PSU was the only top 15 team without a player in the transfer portal, which is not entirely accurate, as ILL is in the same situation. Edmund Ruth is not in the transfer portal; he was denied eligibility two years ago while at ILL. Despite this, he entered the portal last year, and I'm not sure why he is showing up again, since he definitely has no eligibility left. No kids in the portal speaks volumes for Coach Hunter and Staff after navigating a very difficult season with a coaching change that was an ILL legend, as well as keeping all but one recruit, and not sure that won't be rectified shortly. They deserve a huge amount of credit for keeping the train on the track and never once complaining.
The Northwestern Wildcats are set to welcome one of their largest recruiting classes next season, featuring 10 new recruits. This impressive group includes three members of the Greco World teams, as well as notable athletes such as four-time Georgia State champion Ryder Wilder, Will Detar, who is ranked #58 on the 2026 big board, three-time state champion Trayvn Boger at 285 lb, and Alex Pierce, a four-time finalist from Iowa, among others. Kudos to Matt and BJ for successfully landing this class, which is no small feat given the admissions process at Northwestern. This new group will complement a few other freshmen, including Dekraker and Enright. Maybe a Wildcat turnaround isn't that far off.
I am going to try to be a DNC the rest of the evening.
