Kudos to you and your team for the amazing job! The Niger Delta remains one of the most heartbreaking examples of environmental injustice in the world. For decades, these communities have lived with oil spills, polluted rivers, degraded farmlands, loss of livelihoods, and serious health risks, while receiving far too little attention relative to the scale of the crisis. Unfortunately, where action has been taken, it is often slow, fragmented, and insufficient. The people of the Niger Delta deserve more than promises; they deserve meaningful remediation, accountability, and the restoration of their environment and livelihoods.

Shell operated a major oil pipeline in #Nigeria for years despite evidence it was causing widespread #pollution. My team fought for access to internal company files & I travelled to the Niger Delta to meet those living with the consequences. #environment #climatechange #oilandgas

I spoke on BBC News about seeing black sludge and dead mangroves when I visited the riverine community of Bille, where Shell kept pumping oil through a pipeline despite #pollution evidence. 50,000 Nigerians are taking #Shell to court in the UK... #nigeria #environment #oilandgas

“Across Nigeria's oil-rich southern Niger Delta, decades of oil spills have left a landscape deeply scarred, with wetlands increasingly coated in crude and contaminated sediment.” @simijourno bbc.com/news/articles/cdrp8v…

oil theft, poverty, politics, insecurity and corporate responsibility are all deeply intertwined, and the people living there are often left carrying the burden. 4/4

Shell says the documents lack critical context and do not reflect the challenges of operating amid widespread oil theft and organised criminality.

That’s me done in Washington DC 🇺🇸 What a challenging and rewarding few months it’s been! From reporting on the Trump administration and its policies, Epstein files and depositions, Supreme Court rulings, suspected assassinations and of course, the US-Israel war with Iran...

Covering everything from the first US strikes and the Strait of Hormuz closure to the ceasefire and the fast-moving developments in between. I’ve worked across numerous BBC radio and TV outlets and written in-depth online articles and analysis #media #trump #news #bbc

I’ve also gained a much deeper understanding of how the US political and legal systems function in practice; of military strategy and modern warfare and how rapidly shifting geopolitics are redefining global alliances in real time.

52 days - that’s how long the US war with Iran had been going on for before President Trump declared that indefinite ceasefire. But a ceasefire does not mark an end to a war. Trump has said he won’t hesitate to strike Iran harder 1/3 #iran #unitedstates #news #war #fyp

he doesn’t get a deal he likes. It’s important to note - Trump only had 60 days to conclude fighting before legally requiring Congress’s approval to continue. So pausing at 52 days, wasn’t random. The US is still at war, & here’s one way Congress can put an actual end to it 2/3

Do you think Congress has done enough when it comes to the US and Israel’s war on Iran? 3/3

A White House spokesperson says any implication that people linked to the Trump admin have used inside info to make big profits from putting bets on US attacks on Iran, peace deals or falls in the price of oil is ‘baseless and irresponsible reporting’. Phew — that’s a relief.

Very honoured that the forthright independent online title The Nerve, run by Sarah Donaldson, Jane Ferguson, Imogen Carter, Lynsey Irvine & Carole Cadwalladr, is running an article by me this Friday about ‘journacide’ — the deliberate killing of journalists in Gaza and Lebanon.

The worldwide reputation of the US has been badly damaged. But the success of Artemis II reminds us there’s another America, clever, bold, open to the world, which we love and admire.

Good to see Simi Jolaoso on @BBCNews @BBCWorld with engaging delivery👏🏽 Keep up the good work☺️ #News
At the start of the war with Iran, many people said President Trump's actions were illegal because he didn't get permission from Congress to strike. Now that the war is ongoing, can #Congress still do something to stop it? #unitedstates #war #iran #democrats #republicans
