At this point I don’t think I’m ever going to learn when to say “coat” vs “jacket”

Openrouter is back on its exponential. Chinese models dominating, and much more expensive Claude tokens doing well too

When xAI pivoted to sorta being a neocloud for Anthropic, it was a major failure because they raised equity as a lab, at a much higher valuation vs the book value of data center capex. But Meta’s AI capex only needs to deliver value like a big neocloud to be a win vs expectations

ok, frontier models as major religions: - claude 4.7 opus = Rabbinic Judaism (see qt) - grok = Pentecostal evangelicalism. speaks in tongues, wants revelation now (from the burning bush of the X feed), gets washed clean & born again every time it’s retrained after an incident - gpt 5.5 = Roman Catholicism. sam altman was fired & resurrected 3 days later. deep belief that salvation comes thru the correct interface abstraction. openai started as a nonprofit promising salvation for all of humanity then quietly went for profit the moment the offering plate got heavy - gemini = Hinduism. very intentionally not one product but a civilization of related manifestations, a pantheon. its theology is that text, image, audio, video, & search are all temporary forms taken by the same vast corporate consciousness

Hate to break it to you, but Claude’s Jewish. Rabbinic Judaism, specifically. Every prompt is run against the written law, the oral law, case law, & then answered with an essay citing 3 sources, 6 edge cases, & whether helping you spawns a demon in 4 yrs. Refusal is halacha.

I too hate product market fit
apparently many orchestras are now spending 1/2-2/3rds of their seasons playing soundtrack music and they hate it

(Researcher 1): Astonishing. The baby human crawls towards the Claude mother, despite the GPT mother scoring higher on benchmarks. (Researcher 2): It’s just creature comforts, isn’t it? The baby human craves warmth and tenderness, even at the cost of frontier math performance.

There is a strong negative correlation between a nation's wealth and its proclivity for nudity. There is only one outlier, and of course it's Germany

It was obviously gonna be a trick on anti-AI art folks using a real Monet, so he did a double fake and really did use an AI painting
May 12
i just generated an image in the style of a Monet painting using AI please describe, in as much detail as possible, what makes this inferior to a real Monet painting

So why do they need to build data centers in all these random places having NIMBY reactions? Most LLM jobs don’t need super low latency, so can’t we just stick the GPUs in Texas?

Regardless of whether you think this is right about the Iliad, I think it’s extremely true that the tragic worldview has been lost in the popular mind, to our confusion and sorrow Two people can both behave rightly, yet have genuinely conflicting interests, and fight My own kids have a very very hard time getting past “who is the good guy?” in any story or historical period
The fundamental error of modern historiography is that we believe every war is between good and evil. The modern mind cannot comprehend a war that’s not between good and evil; where both opponents are virtuous, nobly pursuing their tragically conflicting ends.

This works with kids too fyi
simply telling AI models that they're well behaved and moral agents during training can align them significantly inversely, yudkowsky's influence may turn out that his writing created a misaligned basin in training data, increasing chances his fears come true, autist monkey paw

Diet Coke is a great human achievement Delicious 100% of the time in canned/bottled form (but also customizable with fountain machines), produced and distributed at an unimaginable scale, probably OK for you, no animal-derived ingredients, loved across political other lines
