It may be the last day of #blackhistorymonth but the Ss in chemistry and cancer classes wanted black excellence in STEM to be acknowledged all spring. Check out the Find your Influencers (inspired by @winatsocial) and Periodic Table display in our hallway. #representationmatters
In his recent article published in @edutopia, @ijkelleher shares 4 studying methods that strengthen the brain’s ability to retrieve information and lists instructions on how you can apply them in your practice to help students become better learners.

In @aimsmddc Emerging Leaders seminar this morning, and love that the @TheCTTL placemat comes up in the discussion of school culture and belonging. Learning can't happen if Ss don't feel they belong.
We've made it to #CTTLAcademy Day 4! Today is about implementation. Now that we've learned what we've learned, we'll explore how educators can utilize the MBE Roadmap and Placemats to test, develop and apply strategies that work in their schools and classrooms.
What other tips can you add that help reduce extraneous cognitive load?
1. Provide clear instructions and streamline workload
2. Use temporary scaffolds to reduce demands on working memory
3. Design curriculum so that knowledge and skills are built over time

This red dot is the oldest galaxy we've ever seen!
The latest data from the James Webb Space Telescope has helped astronomers find the galaxy, which dates back to just 300 million years after the big bang newscientist.com/article/232…
Reflecting on Day 2 of @TheCTTL Academy. SO much to unpack and put to work in #AHCScience. Room for practice & formative assessment is what I'm focusing on this morning. It's going to be essential to our freshmen's success in our new Physics 9 course. #physicsfirst#MBE
Oh synapse! Today we have @GDunnArt presenting on neuroanatomy and neuroplasticity 🧠
Reimagine the complexities of our minds through art.
Join #CTTLAcademy TODAY starting at 1 PM to hear from Dr. Dunn whose strokes of genius are featured in collections around the world.
Starting off @TheCTTL's 5th Academy with the most inspiring deep dive thanks to @GDunnArt. This artwork is so gorgeous and thought-provoking. Can't wait to use it in my Neurobio class this fall! #neuronerd#plasticity

#IfThenSheCan brings unmissable 3D-printed statues of women working in STEM fields to our National Mall, examples to young women and girls of how far their dreams can carry them. These statues make visible the groundbreakers and mentors there to help make dreams into realities.

Have you heard about this? Scientists in New Zealand and Germany are developing systems to potty-train cows, with the goal of curbing greenhouse gas emissions to combat #climatechange. These bovine-friendly bathrooms have been dubbed "MooLoos." 🐄 washingtonpost.com/world/202…
That’s a wrap! Thank you @chesapeakebay! We felt honored to be your first in-person field trip after more than 600 days. These LOTAs have learned so much about our treasured estuary and why we need to #savethebay
"Cognitive scientists always have to have a flow chart" jokes Rich Mayer. Already enjoying this deep dive on multimedia learning! I have fallen in love with design over my career, so I can't wait to hear what is research has found about this topic. #Neuronerdsquad@TheCTTL
This is such a good reminder of the role of stress--both wanted and unwanted--in our work with Ss... and we have to remember it's different for each student. #FindtheGoldilocksZone#NeuroNerdSquad@TheCTTL
My big takeaway from day #1 of The Science of Teaching & School Leadership Academy.
"Feedback not acted upon by students is a waste of time."
Don't waste your time or theirs! Set the proper environment, make feedback actionable and give kids (and you!) time to act. #CTTLAcademy
It's easy to forget what is so important about @TheCTTL Academy, but its the dialogue and joy at discovery that I'm reminded of every time we jump back in! #NeuroNerdSquad
