We stand by this story, which was based on extensive reporting and rigorous sourcing. The bylines on this story belong to four of the world's most deeply-sourced experts on international affairs and diplomacy who have repeatedly revealed important details about the war.
Tehran and Washington are both escalating by raising each other’s costs in unexpected ways. Pursued recklessly, this path would lead to unexpected humanitarian catastrophes, in Iran and the wider region.
What an absolute disgrace! The regime has suffocated all means of communication with the outside world for the public. @nytimes’s reaction: Let’s dedicate a full column to the diary of the president’s son.
The blown-up police station in Niavaran, Tehran was where the hijab police took me to when I was 16 because my mandatory garment (the long tunic or shirt we had to always wear) did not reach my knees. Among the detainees there was a woman who dared to argue with those thugs, saying her father was a martyr of Iran-Iraq war. After intensely insulting her late father, the officers took her to a back room and beat her up. Initially we heard her screaming and the thudding of them kicking her with their boots. After a few minutes silence ensued. To this day I wonder what happened to her.
A pragmatic kingpin who oversaw the massacre of 32 thousand innocent lives. It’s like feeling sorry for the killing of Hamas terrorists. Have you people no shame?
I fear @vali_nasr is right. When I met Ali Larijani I found him an absolute insider kingpin of the Iranian regime -- but also the kind of strong and pragmatic leader who just might be able to hammer out a peace deal. Not sure, but I wonder if the war will now be harder to end.
In memory of all the innocent, brave, freedom loving lives of my fellow Iranians, and all the innocents that were killed by the orders of "that" murderous fanatic dictator...
The news we've been waiting for all of our lives has finally come... LONG LIVE IRAN

📺 The BBC cancelled almost all TV and radio interviews on #Iran's internet blackout they'd scheduled or suggested changing topic to other outages. With huge respect to BBC journos, this wastes human rights monitors' time, hasn't happened in past crises, and needs investigation.
I’m devastated. A good friend and dormmate of mine, Amin Pourfarhang, has been sentenced to death after protesting in Iran 😭 He’s one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.
Please share. Visibility raises the cost for the Islamic Republic and may stop this execution!

Well, this is not a surprise for anyone with a bare minimum of decency and common sense who has followed @FranceskAlbs 's actions and statements over the years.
LEFT: U.N. “human rights expert” Francesca Albanese says she's silent on slaughter of Iranian protesters as it's beyond her Palestinian areas mandate to which she is “rigorously dedicated.”
RIGHT: Albanese last week condemning U.S. for arresting dictator Maduro in Venezuela.
Still, it's always sad to see that for many people - especially people who have some sort of meaningful power - their ideology comes first. Anything that goes against their ideological world view is to be dismissed, or ignored. But history will remember.
URGENT🚨: Islamic Republic Ministry of Intelligence forces raided Milad Hospital in Isfahan, kidnapping several doctors who treated wounded protesters. Their lives are now in grave danger. #DigitalBlackoutIran#Iran

For many many years Vahid has by far been the most reliable and professional source of news from Iran. Almost everyone I know trusts his professionalism.

This is for you @vonderleyen@SwedishPM . You have "meaningful" tools to "act" and "stop the violence". Leave the "monitoring" and "being concerned" to us ordinary citizens with common sense and access to free media.
