Will you help us ban the import of sharks fins into the UK? Sharks are in a lot of trouble, and we’re currently allowed to import up to 20kg personally. We’ve got 4 days and we need another 19,000 signatures. Please please support and share!!! petition.parliament.uk/petit…

A sad day for UK wildlife Government allows over 70,000 badgers to be shot in largest ever cull announced. How many to be tested for bovine TB? Almost none! Is this way you treat a protected species in UK? Vaccinated badgers paid for by taxpayer will be shot - a National Disgrace
🦡🦡😢 We are devastated that the government has done a u-turn on promises to end badger culling. More than 70,000 healthy badgers will be shot this autumn in the government’s largest ever seasonal cull, including Derbyshire. Read more 👉 bit.ly/2FapDwu 🦡🦡😢

Putting the environment in the hands of this government is like asking King Herod to babysit. It’s tragic!
Every year, 1 plant species per English county goes extinct. And thanks to the governments reforms in the planning system, the nationally scarce Maiden Pink may be next for South Lancashire, where it’s last native site, Ainsdale Hope School, is under threat from development 😡😭

I’ve seen the devastation of it at one my local @BBOWT reserves, it’s so sad to see and so costly for the trust to manage when times are hard financially as it is 😔 however it is interesting to see how the habitats will change where woodland is opened up by tree loss
This week our focus is on #trees and specifically #ashdieback. Ash dieback will kill up to 95% of ash trees across the UK. At a cost of billions, the effects will be staggering. It will change the landscape forever and threaten many species which rely on ash (The Woodland Trust)

Typical Conservative government blaming the ecological aspect of the planning system, so backward thinking!
How on earth did we end up with such an incompetent leader? Have they learned nothing from the origins of Covid-19?

The PM in his "build, build, build" speech has just said “The newt counting delays in our system are a massive drag on the productivity and the prosperity of this country” It is a fundamental mistake to view species and environmental protections as a drag on our economy.

"...a leaked memo instructed ministers to have “no specific policy” on animal welfare in US trade talks". 'No specific policy'! If true, this would represent a monumental breaking of a promise that has been made over and over again by multiple ministers theguardian.com/politics/202…

Thanks to Mike Birkhead for this... a really clear and close up photo of the peregrine falcon on All Saints Church! We’ve been lucky enough to see it a few times, but not managed any photos like this! 😊👍

This is so very sad. If you visit nature reserves please do not light fires and take all your rubbish home with you. These places need to be cherished 💚
Fires, flytipping and litter - we are shocked and saddened by the damage being done to our nature reserves as lockdown eases. Nature has helped us all through the last few months. This is not the way to repay it. bbowt.org.uk/news/bbowt-sadd…

Today is World Environment Day and the theme this year is biodiversity. These charts show just how little rain we have had since lockdown began. Please use water wisely - our streams, rivers and lakes support a wealth of wildlife and really need the water.
