I strongly condemn the killing of one civilian and the injury of two others during today’s protests in Sheikh, Sahil Region, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family while wishing the injured a full recovery.
The killings of protesters in Agabar, Burco, Boorama, and now Sheikh expose a dangerous pattern of state violence against dissent.
Citizens demanding justice for the detained Sultan Ahmed Muse Ahmed should never be met with bullets, and Somaliland must not be allowed to drift into a one party, Orwellian state where dissent is treated as a threat

#Somaliland government is apparently killing its citizens in #Shiekh. The situation is tense and descending into chaos. People have every right to express their constitutional rights. The imprisoned traditional elder has to be released.
