Spending 30 hours a week in institutional childcare from the age of 9 months is categorically NOT the best start in life. For under twos there is strong evidence linking long hours in childcare with poor outcomes. Babies need their mothers. Use the money to make this possible.
🥳 NEW: Working parents now have access to 30 hours of government-funded childcare, saving families £7,500 and providing high quality early years education for children. Labour’s Plan for Change is putting money in parents’ pockets and giving children the best start in life.

Meet Nick. He's 30 and does everything right: works hard, pays taxes, follows the rules. He’s also given up hope of ever building the life his parents had. Today's @spectator tells his story. Our 2023 Justice for the Young report shows how Britain is failing his generation 🧵

Hugely important and very welcome new inquiry from the @CommonsForeign . The UK has a huge and critically undervalued suite of soft power assets which are key for our role on the world stage. Great to see its importance being recognised.
Does the UK still lead in soft power on the world stage? We’ve launched an inquiry to explore the UK’s soft power influence and to understand the benefits of robust soft power in today’s world.

The C of E may have its troubles at the top, but at the sharp end things seem to be thriving. The church I went to this morning was standing-room only, and everyone belted out the hymns and carols with gusto. Friends tell me the same from their Christmas services.

Our preoccupation with identity politics has hidden from view one group of people who are genuinely and seriously disadvantaged—boys and young men. Every society needs strong and confident men, so how can we restore hope to Britain’s Lost Boys? A 🧵 1/ bit.ly/4g5vVKa
