The @mitrealityhack 2023 will go down as one of the top highlights of my life and my career. Thank you to the organizers, hackers, mentors, judges, volunteers, expo attendees & everyone else that made it what it was. My closing remarks for those who missed them.

According to my Activity Monitor all my Unity Editors are Apple Silicon-based, but something's triggering "this won't be capable with a future release of macOS", which again is why forcing devs to update their macOS to run the latest SDKs can be impeding to dev workflow
A massive pain point to iOS dev is the eventual requirement to use the latest iOS SDK, which gets hard-locked behind a new Xcode, which is hard-locked behind the latest Mac OS version, which you may have avoided upgrading for fear of desktop software incompatibilities.

I once heard that updating your LinkedIn to Apple employment was floodgate opener for every journalist ever to flood your DMs to try to extract any juicy gossip and since then I’ve never questioned why Apple employees don’t update their career profile on that site
1) A large chunk of the visionOS software team was re-assigned to fix Siri last year. I don't know why they don't update their titles. 2) visionOS remains to support AVP owners and because the AR glasses will run visionOS. 3) The enclosed form-factor has been paused - for now.

It kills me that we could’ve spun up a fully functional prototype of this (Pokédex and everything) 3 years ago in less than 8 hours of dev work with commercial hardware in 6dof immersive not just a postage stamp 0-dof display

If your workflow is that FRAGILE and you're making money then you would already have an old ass device laying around for your photoshop or other so-called desktop software incompatabilities.

One of the biggest challenges in the VR industry is so many people not being on the same page. If people in VR can’t agree on its future, the people outside of it who agree that it doesn’t have one, appear to be speaking with a far stronger unified voice. Ofc: none of it matters

“There just isn’t anything anymore” for the markets that the industry’s initial theses have catered to for a decade. Those markets showed that their buying power wasn’t enough to graduate this space from where it’s stagnated. VR isn’t dead… but some fans need a reality check.
