🛡️Online privacy is the condition for digital freedom. That’s why we’re working with Midnight Network to ensure that their protections for private payments and private smart contracts extend to the network level. 🔑Today, we’re excited to announce that NymVPN now accepts payments in ADA @Cardano as a first step. nym.com/blog/ada-cardano-nym…

Theory and Practice of Blockchain Security : read more below about Ouroboros self-healing in the context of the recent Cardano mainnet bug.
The recent mainnet incident was a genuine stress test — and a reminder of why Cardano’s design choices matter. And Ouroboros did exactly what it was designed to do: self-heal. If you want the deeper story, this blog from @sol3gga breaks it down clearly. Learn more 👇 iohk.io/en/blog/posts/2025/1…

Members of the Input | Output research team are looking forward to co-hosting a tutorial during WINE ‘24 at @InfAtEd that aims to provide an overview of game theoretic and economic aspects arising in the design and analysis of #blockchain protocols. This tutorial, co-hosted by @sol3gga (University of Edinburgh and Input | Output), Elias Koutsoupias (University of Oxford), and Evangelos Markakis (Athens University of Economics & Business and Input | Output), takes place on December 2, 2024 in Edinburgh, Scotland. we have come to a point where we need to codify our basic rights when we engage with IT systems. This will help create the right incentives for systems to uphold them. Here is a first take, the 11 blockchain tenets iohk.io/en/blog/posts/2024/1…

(1/3) Decentralization can only be measured taking into account multiple different layers of a blockchain system. I am very happy to share that we just released the alpha version of the tokenomics layer of EDI, see groups.inf.ed.ac.uk/blockcha…

(2/3) The tokenomics layer comes with a number of clustering tools that are applied to make the results more meaningful. Moreover we will soon add more on chain heuristics that cluster UTXOs from the same wallet together - useful for Bitcoin type ledgers.

(3/3) The EDI aims to measure the decentralization of blockchain systems in a first principles manner . Currently we have alpha releases of Consensus and Tokenomics but there is more to come! see arXiv:2211.01291

0/ Many people asked me recently why does the alpha version of the EDI blogs.ed.ac.uk/blockchain/20… count pools as single entities when measuring decentralization and not pool members. To answer this question yourself, answer the following 3 questions

14/ In summary, the importance of having many independent pool operators cannot be understated for the purposes of decentralization. A pool with one protocol key and a hundred members cannot be counted the same as 100 independent protocol keys.

15/ But counting independent pool operators is only a first step in our journey of decentralization measurement. There is a lot more coming up – refer to our systematization paper for a glimpse arxiv.org/abs/2211.01291 Thanks for all the valuable feedback and comments so far!
