I’ve been reading updates from pilots, cabin crew, and others in the aviation world after the recent plane crash in Ahmedabad, and I just want to say something...
Please, be kind to these people.
It’s easy to forget the human behind the uniform. But after an incident like this, every crew member who steps onto a plane is carrying a silent weight. Imagine boarding a flight the next day, standing at the cabin door, smiling at strangers while knowing that someone just like you, doing the same job, didn’t make it home.
The emotional toll is real. Many of them are shaken. Their hearts are heavy. But they still show up, because that's what their job demands professionalism in the face of fear. They can't break down, they can't pause, they can't say no. They carry on with grace and strength, often without being asked how they’re really feeling.
I’ve seen some deeply insensitive comments online, blaming, mocking, or dismissing what these professionals are going through. Please don’t be part of that.
These are people who dedicate their lives to keeping others safe. They deserve empathy, not cruelty. Support, not suspicion.
Next time you fly or even scroll past aviation news, take a moment to think about what it takes to walk into a pressurized tube and take responsibility for hundreds of lives, while quietly dealing with the emotional aftershocks of a tragedy that hit too close to home.
Let’s not add to their burden. Let’s be human...
