The problem with agriculture today is not that commodity prices rise and fall, it’s that input prices rise and rise

Hey @scaverhoff, just wondering if this is still deterring the birds or have they gotten used to it?

I was this many decades old when I learned to tie string on barns, etc. to deter birds from crapping on e-v-e-r-y-t-h-I-n-g!

Brazil is pushing for a much greater portion of the exportable agricultural market share, and it is doing it rapidly. The U.S. cotton industry had better get more serious about the marketing and hedging programs of our products. It is not hyperbole to say that there is no time left to waste. cnnbrasil.com.br/economia/ma… and Brazil is introducing new seed varieties via Agro Amazonia. “Viumar Joenck, Agro Amazônia’s seed director, said one variety is already available for commercial sale, while two others are currently under development and testing throughout this harvest. All three varieties are genetically modified. By 2025/26, the company expects to have three cultivars on the market. “We will evaluate the results from the two cultivars being tested in the field, and based on those results, we will move forward to make them commercial products next season,” Mr. Joenck said. According to him, one of the seed’s key advantages is its high fiber yield (the proportion of lint extracted from raw cotton after seeds are removed). Dagma seeds achieve a fiber yield of 47.5%, compared to the market average of 38% to 42%, based on data from the Brazilian Cotton Producers Association (ABRAPA), cited by the company.”
